"Romantic" movies.

Well, maybe it does celebrate books, but only if a corporate chain is selling them. Meg Ryan is, in the end, fine with Tom Hanks destroying her little book store. I found it incredibly sad, as a book person myself.

Booklady—last week my D forwarded a facebook page “Alan Rickman’s Voice”. It has 18,000 + fans.
And if there is any doubt…search on youtube for Alan Rickman Sonnet 130

Add to my list

Wild Hearts Can’t be Broken - what’s better than a romantic movie with horses?

voices… sam elliot’s voice does it to me  …oh my.

Alan Rickman= Hans Gruber in Die Hard. Can’ t get past it hahah

Alan Rickman as the Sheriff in Costner’s Robin Hood. Creepily attractive… not that it is a romance, at least not his part :)

Here are some old ones that we like to watch:

Gone with the Wind
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
The Philadelphia Story
The Great Gatsby

All time most romantic movie: Don Juan de Marco. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned it–with Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando. The soundtrack is fantastic–in fact, just close your eyes and listen to the music if you wish. Fantastic for a romantic evening at home.

I always loved that Cyrano de Bergerac movie with Steve Martin and Darryl Hannah. Can’t remember the name. Somebody help?

Roxanne. That is a good one.
I liked Splash too, with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah.

Roxanne! Yes.

Steve Martin was sexy in that one, with the sword(tennis racquet)fighting and the beautiful prose and of course that big, huge…nose.

African Queen.

And Casablanca, of course.

For those who love “You’ve Got Mail”…
See the movie it was based on (1940) The Shop Aound the Corner with Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullivan.

Love Actually
perfect, never gets old, I’ve probably seen it like 5 times in the past year

I don’t think it’s been mentioned but I might have passed over it because I would be shocked if nobody thought of it…
Titanic!

500 Days of Summer
might be one of my favorites ever, adorable, offbeat, bittersweet, and an awesome soundtrack

500 days of Summer

^ really?
I didn’t like that one at all- even though I think Joesph Gordon Leavitt is a wonderful actor & I loved him in Brick and The Lookout.

If you like offbeat- you should see The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind.
I have to say- Clementine is probably the movie character that is most like me.
How bizarre- I already knew that Kate Winslet & I share a birthday- but more than that- the last two digits are just transposed.

my favorites:
Sense and Sensibility. I can watch that over and over. (Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon!)
Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth version)
Casablanca
Shakespeare in Love
and one that hasn’t been mentioned, The Age of Innocence.

Age of Innocence reminds me of another film with Michelle Pfeiffer.

Dangerous Liaisons

Dangerous Liasons: the antithesis of romantic!

Really! Pretty + carnal /= romantic!

I forgot the story of * twu wove*!

It has everything.
