I didn’t see a thread for this year’s admissions at RPI.
RPI will meet full need (as calculated by RPI) for first years applying EDI/II for Fall 2025. There are some other advantages for ED applicants as well, see below.
AII applicants who are admitted and complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile will have their demonstrated need met through all available financial aid resources (scholarships, grants, work-study, loans, etc.).**
In addition to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need, there are additional benefits to applying Early Decision:
Waived application fee
Learn of your admissions decision no more than 45 days after the application deadline
Early selection of your residence hall during freshman year
Priority registration for first semester freshman classes
While I have mixed feelings about spiffs for ED applicants (allowed due to the DOJ NACAC lawsuit several years back), kudos to RPI for increasing FA dollars. More and more schools are getting all the types of students they want applying in the ED round, including FGLI and other disadvantaged and/or diverse students, which is why we see some schools taking a larger proportion of the class in the ED rounds. That is not a good development for disadvantaged students who don’t have good college advising. Also hoping RPI’s NPC is accurate.
This forum is silent for some reason. S25 applied to Engineering, EA. Looking to gain some insights on RPI as a whole. There are some concerns in previous years posting on the school under previous president and seemed to have some improvements under new President (MIT alum). The Arch program- benefits/ increased tuition cost/housing/ability to graduate in 4 or 4.5yrs is something he is interested to know from current students or parents of students. He is comparing against Pitt Swanson and PSU ( both accepted) and others with pending decision. The Net Price calculator for RPI (hopefully accurate) makes it an option if accepted.
My son is in his third year at RPI. He’s a dual major in CS + Math. He works incredibly hard, but has time for hobbies and clubs. He picked up his favorite hobbies and clubs at RPI – he does things he never dreamed of in high school. The students and parents generally LOVE the new president. He’s all over the place, and he does a lot for the community. Ignore the old posts about the previous president. She was truly awful. The hard work pays off at RPI-- my son opted to apply for National Science Foundation funded summer research (NSF-REU) instead of doing the typical arch internships. He wants to go to graduate school, so research makes a lot more sense. These opportunities are competitive, and I’m convinced that his experience at RPI and its name helped him be accepted. Some of his friends had a hard time finding internships at the time of their ARCH semester and some didn’t. They all found something to do. There’s a huge list of options. You can take classes, do research, work on projects, etc. All of it benefited them in some way. The school is the right size for getting to know your professors and getting that personal touch. It has a fun sports culture if you want it, and it has a no sports culture if you want it. The clubs and events are all very fun and well-attended. My son is currently roommates with a bunch of kids he met in his freshman dorm. If you are willing to work hard, RPI is for you, and I’m certain it will pay off for those who stick it out. For what it’s worth, my other child attends another well-known engineering school. RPI’s food is soooo much better. People complain about food options wherever you go, but know that RPI’s food is leagues above at least another’s.
Hi! My son has applied to RPI EA so we are eagerly waiting for the decisions We went back and forth with the ED meets needs offer, but since both my husband and I are self employed, we just had some reservations on the NPCs being accurate for us. Also, being that we live in Idaho, visiting the schools my son applied to before applying wasn’t really feasible. We plan to visit the top one or two once we know what we’re working with. We’ll see!
Good luck today everyone! I can’t find it listed anywhere what time decisions are released so I guess we’ll go with the 7 EST stated above unless anyone else knows?
Can anyone try and see if they can access the accepted student visit page … you need the log in credentials to access it. They have couple of days of accepted student days- Mar 22 &april 12. Whole day schedule
I am able to access and it says “Celebrate your acceptance…” Not sure if this page really checks the acceptance database .
I guess few more hours we will know.
