OOS applicants should not count on any financial aid or merit scholarships other than any Federal aid if eligible.

Usually any automatic merit scholarships are awarded in March with the financial aid packages. Students applying to the Webers Honors college are eligible for the Honors college scholarships.

Hi everyone!

I just checked my SDSU freshman applicant portal and saw I was accepted! Is this normal? It’s been less than a month since I applied, and was wondering if this is common SDSU practice or if they typically wait until March to release decisions/financial aid packages. Thanks!

Yes, SDSU admits a few High Stats, Local SD and Compact for Success applicants early. Many will be invited to apply to the Honors college. Congratulations and please post your stats.

I attended an OOS presentation from SDSU and they said there are merit scholarships available, but they are low dollar amounts.

Yes, a few are available but not of a significant amount. The Honors College scholarships are usually the larger amount merit scholarships.

Happy as a clam, but will be declining due to an ED that just came today too! Here’s to the kid who takes her place.

OOS son admitted today. 3.5 GPA but 3.8 Cal State version. Was admitted LMU ED and will be declining. Pleasantly surprised that he was admitted.

Does anyone know if the early yes notifications will all be today? Or over the course of a few days?
My daughter has 4.24 CSU GPA with 27 A-G classes, Biology major … and is now in the cycle of friends with same GPA, but different majors, hearing good news.
She knows it it isn’t everyone getting a yes early, but wonders if it is just one day of hearing or multiple.
@Gumbymom any “data” for this?

I know one of my DD’s friends got accepted on Jan 19 last year. So I think maybe there are waves or they trickle out? Good luck!!

No early admit love for nursing apps? Last year was 3/5?

Nursing majors and audition based majors hear in March unfortunately.

So how does the honors college work? Do they have to ask you to apply or do you apply on your own? If they ask you to apply when does that normally occur?

Anyone can apply but usually the early admits are invited to apply.

Students do NOT need to be admitted into San Diego State University before applying to the Weber Honors College. Students who have applied to SDSU can apply to the Weber Honors College prior to receiving their admission decision from the University.

Every year can be different, but last year there were some admits in January.
