Nothing in daughter’s portal for Biology- Marine Science major
SDSU no longer uses the “pre-major” status but some majors still require that the student meets course and GPA requirements prior to proceeding into taking Major upper division courses so still similar to a “pre-major”. The student is admitted into their choice major. Here is what is stated for Finance majors:
Impacted Program
The majors in the Department of Finance are impacted. Before enrolling in any upper division courses in business administration, students must advance to an upper division business major and obtain a business major code. To be admitted to an upper division business major (accounting, finance, financial services, real estate, information systems, management, or marketing), students must meet the following criteria:

Complete with a grade of C (2.0) or better: ACCTG 201, ACCTG 202; ECON 101, ECON 102; FIN 240 (or an approved business law course); MIS 180; MATH 120 (or an approved calculus course or an approved three-unit finite mathematics course); RWS 290 (RWS 290 is not required for the accounting major); and either STAT 119 or ECON 201. These courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/ NC);

Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester units;

Have a cumulative GPA of 2.9.
To complete the major, students must fulfill the degree requirements for the major described in the catalog in effect at the time they are accepted into the premajor at SDSU (assuming continuous enrollment).

@Gumbymom Very helpful info. Thank you! So if I understand correct, the only requirement is the grade/GPA and completion of certain coursework, but the students ar enot competing with each other for a set number of seats for that major, correct?
No, they are not competing for a set number of seats in the major. Completing the course and GPA requirements along with meeting with their advisor should make the declaration of the major automatic. Congrats to everybody accepted. My son was accepted today for computer science. He is an in-state; non-local student with a 3.96 unweighted and a 4.3 cap. 10APs. Has anybody found where we can look to see if there is a scholarship offer?

There are very few scholarships that are awarded at time of admission. SDSU scholarship notifications and award details appear in the Financial section of the my.SDSU portal. In addition to checking the portal, students are notified of scholarship awards via email.

SDSU Merit Scholars: Automatically awarded to high-achieving applicants, often including automatic admission to the Weber Honors College.

Presidential Scholars Program: A prestigious scholarship for high-achieving California residents, which can be valued up to $30,000 over 4 years.

The Majority of scholarships require an application after enrolling. Financial aid for admitted students should be out in a few weeks.

Once admitted and after completing their Intent to Enroll, students may log into Aztec Scholarships during the application period. **Important:**Incoming students must their Intent to Enroll to be matched to and awarded any scholarships through Aztec Scholarships.
Scholarship award decisions are made during multiple review periods throughout the application cycle. Students who apply after April 10 but by the Incoming Student Early Action Deadline will be considered for scholarships awarded in all review periods following the July 31 deadline.
Students who are unable to submit their application by the Incoming Student Early Action Deadline are still encouraged to apply; however, applications submitted after this date will only be considered for scholarships awarded after the final deadline. Note: the majority of scholarships are awarded after the final deadline in September.

My son was accepted for business. We’re in-state/Bay Area. Email came yesterday 3/5 about 4 pm and then he checked the portal. Sorry I don’t know all the course info above, but his CSU GPA was 4.0 and he has 5 APs including 3 that map to business prerequisites. Congrats to everyone accepted!

No, do not think that. There should be a couple more waves with admits coming.

SDSU had 3 waves of decisions last year in March and each wave included some admits.

Hi, does anyone know when the invite-only merit scholarships are coming out? I’ve gotten estimated financial aid packages already, but I applied to the sdsu merit scholars program. Do they notify you if you don’t receive the scholarship as well?
The Honors scholarship should be awarded when the Honors college decisions are posted. Last year it was on March 16.
