Skies clearing to the east and sunshine peeking through.
Showers this morning have been very light. Looks like the week will be partly cloudy and mid 60’s and up. It should be a nice week to enjoy outdoor activities.

Over on Trip Advisor, she said they had a great day yesterday. Today we had some drizzle/mist near the ocean but it’s brightening now.
Thanks @showmom858 , yesterday was beautiful and warm. Great arrival day, had dinner at our favorite bar and restaurant on PB. This morning I met a college friend for breakfast at World Famous. We went to La Jolla today, Georges for lunch. It’s a chilly gray day, and it does put a bit of a damper on things. I don’t think the boys got any big kick out of La Jolla. We are heading to Little Italy tonight.
Tomorrow is Balboa and the Zoo. I hope we all have a better time than we had today. I Think we’ve just had our fill of cold days coming from the Midwest.
Even if it’s a bit cool tomorrow that is great weather for the zoo and Balboa Park. Head to the Prado in the afternoon for happy hour.
I was sort of thinking the same thing, it’s probably better it’s cloudy walking around outside all day. I did make lunch reservations at the Prado.
Born and Raised is a really cool bar (we ate dinner elsewhere). Enjoyed walking around Little Italy.

Good call on eating somewhere else instead of Born and Raised. The food was good when we went in January (expense account meal), but not spectacular for what it cost for four people that night. The Prado is always a fun place!
Ease of cleaning and maintenance - yes, number 1 criterion for a rental. Goes hand in hand with indestructiblity. 
Although I know we could spend a full days at Balboa Park and the zoo, we are only opting for a few hours each, with lunch in between,
Can you help me decide how to do this, I know the place is gigantic, I’ve looked st the museums and the one I imagine we might enjoy more is the Museum of Man. Isn’t that one close to an entrance? We are taking Uber’s. Then we can walk around, and I imagine it’s easy to find the Prado? I guess I need a map. I’m usually better at researching how to tour, but this one stumped me, will it be easy to get to the zoo?

Museum of Man is a good choice. We like the Photography Museum as well as the Railway one. I think you should be able to find your way around with this map. Since it is cooler today the animals at the zoo might be more active for your visit.
Can you use the Maps app on your phone and choose “walk” and then scroll in on Maps for a close view within the Park?
@showmom858 , Thanks for the suggestions for the other museums, I never know which to go to…now I feel I have more of a plan. They all look to me to be the tour guide. And thanks for the link.
@abasket , I’ll try to do that, or get one of the boys to do it. I get tired of having to pull my readers out to look at my phone. That’s a good idea, I’ve never used a maps app before.

Very easy to navigate if you’re getting dropped at the Museum of Man. It will be the westernmost museum along The Prado, which is really just one main street down the middle of the museums. After that stop, just keep walking into the park and you’ll reach a big plaza. The Prado Restaurant is across the plaza on the right. Next to the restaurant is the visitor center/gift shop where you can pick up a paper map. Take a minute to go the right of the restaurant and you can look down into the Japanese Garden. The Art Museum is on the left on the plaza. Then you walk down the street or under the colonnades on either side toward the other museums and the lily pond. The whole length is maybe 10 minutes. At the far end, before you go up to the fountain, you can turn left one block past the giant tree and then walk through the Spanish Art Village (full of cute shops your sons won’t appreciate but a good place for them to get you a Mother’s Day present), exit the far end, and you’re almost at the zoo entrance. Maybe another five minutes.
I also like the Miniature Railroad Museum.
Really everything in that part of the park is very close, and the zoo is easily walkable from all the rest.
Balboa Park was very pretty, but feel a bit ripped off on the museum prices vs, the offerings. We loved the zoo…wow that was expensive, too. But they did have unbelievable animals. Can’t believe we missed the Pandas by 2 weeks or so. Had drinks at the Ale House and dinner st Waterboys. Had a really nice time at both, and good live music at Waterboys.
Today we went to Old Town and I really enjoyed it, especially when the sun peeked out for a little while. Will be going to Gaslamp tonight. I have to say we certainly picked the wrong week! Got back to our hotel and would have liked to have downtime at the beach or pool before getting ready for the evening, but instead we are in our hotel rooms! Although, DH went surfing, he has such a high energy level.
So, tomorrow I was planning USS Midway and a Harbour boat tour/ Seaport visit and now I read it’s going to rain all day. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I even looked up our airline to see if we should just cut the trip short one day and head home, but there is no room. We love San Diego, that’s why we keep coming back, but I’m afraid the boys won’t…first impressions and all. Need to figure out what to do on a rainy day.

It probably won’t rain continuously but rather off and on. Much of the Midway is inside so you could still go there and spend the non-rainy time on the flight deck. Another idea is the Petco Park tour; some is outside of course but much is the inner workings of the ballpark. Our son enjoyed both places.
