DS applied EA CS. Got deferred. He picked additional alternative major ECE and add college of Science as backup. Will need to patently wait.

GPA 3.87 from primary school (with another alternative my own calculation is 3.89).

Hi all – My daughter was deferred on early action. She has good grades (4.2 weighted; 1 B in 3 years), extracurriculars (4 year varsity track including CIF 2nd place; club leadership etc.) and I thought good essays. Any thougths or feedback re next steps or what the likelihood of getting in looks like? Thanks, and congrats to those accepted!

What did her deferral letter state as next steps? Did it request for any additional information to be sent to the school (grades, accolades, updated SAT, etc) or that she should simply choose ED2 or regular decision?

What was her declared major/division? If it was business or engineering, was she given option of selecting arts and sciences for regular decision? Some deferrals can more likely become a yes with acceptance of the shift. For example, business school really wants calculus (and maybe even a high math SAT to match) and other higher math classes, but student may get a yes for economics in arts and sciences with current classes and grades …

I think the accepted next step is to craft a “letter of continued interest” aka LOCI, with substantial updates to your application, achievements, projects, etc

Yeah, it basically just said they may need additional info later but for now inquiring whether she wanted to switch to ED2 or pursue RD. No additional info requested at this time.

She applied to college of arts and sciences. Communications and child studies.

Thanks for the notice. Received 30.6K/year, makes the cost competitive to OOS schools.

My son also received the Bronco scholarship…is the 17k guaranteed all 4 years? Or is it only for the first year?

Four years. Page 3 of the pdf notes that the scholarships are up to 12 consecutive quarters, which would be 4 years not counting the summer.

Regarding the Bronco Scholarships/Merit Grants - is there a typical/average amount or do they vary? And if they vary, does anyone know what they take into consideration to determine the amount?

I assume it varies all the way up to half tuition, since the half and full tuition awards have different names. But I could be wrong.

This is a direct copy from the SCU website:

Was this award the Bronco scholarship or one of the others? Just trying to understand the SCU process.
