Unfortunately I think the process is not exactly transparent, as is their prerogative as a private university.
There are plenty of full pay students at SCU and the award amount for your student is likely based on what the university thinks, after looking at your FAFSA and CSS, that you are willing to pay to have your child join them.
We did not submit CSS and opted out of the FAFSA, which makes me a little concerned because it specifically states that we must reapply for FAFSA every year to maintain the Bronco scholarship. Does anyone know if the students will still be eligible all 4 years without FAFSA application? I will give them a call after the holidays to verify as well.
Per the SCU financial aid office, I have confirmed that the Bronco award does not need yearly FAFSA or CSS filings. A 2.0 minimum GPA must be maintained to keep the renewable award.
My OOS D applied RD earlier this month to the business school. I was hesitant on her doing so as she is currently in precalculus. I read somewhere that SCU preferred calculus for incoming business school students. Does anyone have any information on this? Has anyone heard of any students being admitted without calculus being completed in high school? We reached out to the admissions counselor with this question in the fallâŠcrickets.
Our D23 applied and was offered admission RD as a Biology major with only pre-calc her senior year- but obviously not to Leavey. Hopefully someone else will be able to address this more specifically.
My response is mostly anecdotal (having my own kids apply and their friends and students at the school where I teach) but to be most competitive for business school Calculus is an âunwrittenâ requirement ⊠That being said, factors like overall GPA and rigor overall or even a high Math SAT or ACT score could help ⊠It is a holistic process but due to the nature of the overall applicant pool to Leavey having Calc is a big ++
Honorâs College notifications are out! D25 is in! Is there any chance of a Johnsonâs at this point, or would that have already come out? They are still too expensive right now, even with the $23K merit scholarship.
