SDSU Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

i checked the portal on 3/21 nothing. Didnt check 3/22 but checked 3/23 12:30pm waitlisted

@seniorrrr2018 no there haven’t been nearly enough acceptances to assume they’e done. It sounds like they’re doing it super randomly this year, not acceptances first

@joshuammorton Have not heard back. Admission status still says pending.

@justqcceptme I don’t believe everyone who got rejected gets the waitlist option. I got the rejected message, but in the next paragraph after that it said, “Your credentials are such that you have the option of being placed on a wait list for fall 2018 admission. If you would like to exercise this option, please indicate your decision below by May 1, 2018. Being placed on the wait list does not guarantee admission. Students on the wait list will be notified during the first two weeks of May if we are able to offer you admission for the fall term.” So I believe it depends on qualifications I guess?

I have a friend who got rejected without a wait list option, granted it was for nursing.

Waitlisted at at my dream school SDSU for bio!
Weighted gpa:4.4
Unweighted: 3.6
Super score sat: 1380

Don’t know what to do now . All other schools I would go to :
Denied - Ucsb, Ucla

Accepted for biology. Sat is 1290/1600. Weighted GPA: 3.5/5. Wish I applied for biochem, but I heard bio is capped…

Why is nursing so competitive?

i hope they will send some more acceptances soon

@CaliUSA7 when we’re you accepted ?

@doglover45 i believe they only send out decisions during office hours so there likely won’t be any updates until monday, only people noticing now they got a decision from several days ago

@CaliUSA7 sdsu’s nursing program is really good and gets significantly more applicants than most of their majors. Since every major is impacted, all nursing applicants have to compete against each other to get in

so i applied for marine biology, but on my portal it says “pre biology - marine biology”. does that mean i was compared to other bio majors?

@jennieloren: Yes, you are compared to all Biology majors. Marine Biology is a emphasis area under the Biology major.
Also all applicants are admitted into a Pre-Major and must complete the pre-req courses with a specific GPA to continue onto the Upper division major courses.
The biology and microbiology majors are impacted programs. To be admitted to the biology or microbiology major, students must meet the following criteria:
a. Complete with a minimum GPA of 2.80 and a grade of C (2.0) or better: Biology 203, 203L, 204, 204L, 215; Chemistry 200, 201, 232, 232L; Mathematics 124; and Physics 180A, 180B, 182A, 182B. These courses cannot be taken for credit/no credit (Cr/NC);
b. Have a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or better

@CaliUSA7 are you in-state or out of state?

@jennieloren in-state.

@CaliUSA7 how many honors or Ap did you take? How many Ap tests did you take? Did you have a lot of volunteer? Sorry I’m asking so much It’s just our stats are basically identical

@Gumbymom, in your experience, does SDSU take students (in state) with an EI of 4000 for undeclared majors? Thanks in advance!

@rejectedkid I took all Honors classes except electives and French. I have AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Calc, and AP Psych. Basically no AP exam scores/ SAT subject tests from junior year. Volunteer stuff was like library, and school clubs. What major?

@weathergirl10: Based on the EI information I have collected so far (limited since CC posters only represent a small percentage of applicants), in-state NO, but local YES but none so far this year. The lowest EI for Undeclared this year was a local SD applicant with an EI of 4026. This does not mean you do not have a chance if you have not heard, but the EI threshold seems closer to a 4200 minimum for the majority of the majors this year.
