  1. No specific timeline for waitlist admits. If space opens up before the SIR deadline, then students can be pulled from the waitlist.
  2. Residency type and major are not broken out for the waitlist
  3. The number of enrolled waitlisted students is not listed.
  4. No LOCI’s since CSU’s do not consider demonstrated interest. Opting into the waitlist shows your interest in attending.
  5. Opting into the waitlist is by invitation only.
  6. You CANNOT appeal your decision while on the waitlist.

Grrrreat, a brand-new rabbit hole to go down! Do you know if waitlist stats exist?

Hello! How long does it normally take to get off the waitlist? I heard it can sometimes take only a few weeks.

Here are the timelines for the SDSU waitlist for the last 3 years:

2024 Waitlist: May 22, June 5, June 14, June 18, July 2, July 8. July 10 Denials.

2023 Waitlist: Admits May 8 and June 13. Waitlist closed June 26.

2022: No waitlist admits

If the enrollment target numbers are below expected, then SDSU can start pulling from the waitlist before May 1 but most likely they will start after the May 1 SIR deadline.

how likely is it to get housing if accepted off the waitlist?

For SDSU, if you are non-local, on-campus housing is required for 2 years. With waitlisted students I would confirm with housing office directly.

@Gumbymom or others - any idea how to remove student from WL? My S25 has other options now and we’d like to exit the WL, but there is nowhere on the very limited SDSU applicant “portal” to do this. thanks for advice-

I would email admissions if you cannot find a withdrawal option.

Does anyone have statistics about appeals at SDSU?

I have never been able to find any public listed statistics for appeals but in general, no matter what school, they are rarely approved.

My in-state son got off, too. He got into Cal Poly for Business Administration but has decided to go to the University of Florida.

For the two students here who already got off SDSU Fall 2025 waitlist, can you share 1) if you got an email or just checked your portal to hear you were offered a spot and 2) how long you have to accept/decline your waitlist offer? :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

For the two student that got off the waitlist, would you mind sharing gpa, in state, out of state?

I’ve seen parents posting in the SDSU parent group (one of my twins has enrolled, the other is waitlisted) that their student successfully appealed being waitlisted. Does anyone know if they are using the same appeal form as students who were denied? I understand that the appeals are only for denials…so I don’t understand how they’re appealing being waitlisted.
