Here’s a news story detailing some of it. But, he also has charges in surrounding counties. Nothing looks major, but there’s a lot if it. Also, interesting this morning is that police say they went into his apt. looking for specific items and found them.

Charges being dropped does not necessarily mean nothing happened. Anyway, the only point of his prior arrests was that he was known to police which he obviously was because he has a rap sheet of little stuff that dates back a decade. No-one is saying it means he is a murderer or a serial killer. But, I do get the strong sense that cops think he he knows a lot about this case and maybe even a few others. We’ll see.

Can we get pointed to some reliable source? This “whisper down the lane” thing is driving me nuts. One media source says one thing and another puts it differently.

Flossy, please don’t point us to Twitter. Print and audio news reports say he sped away from the police station. But Longo says, clearly, “At some point thereafter, state and federal authorities, who were overtly- overtly, not covertly- overtly monitoring his movement, saw him get into a car, leave a location in Albemarle County at a high rate of speed…” So, which is it? We don’t know. And dadx earlier said a savvy person can get ot JM’s record-- but added, “(ps: some of it looks like either his father, or someone else with a different birthdate or fake ID).”

I think it’s both LF. He sped away from the police station with cops tailing him and went to a house where he switched cars and they continued until it turned into a chase and they halted the pursuit. If you want to wait for the whole complete story, feel free. There will probably be several books if this turns out to be a bigger case than one missing girl. It could…

And, I didn’t point you to Twitter. Personally, I have my own issues with tweet news. But, I am fine with putting two and two together on my own and do not need a written summary in the NYT to believe something happened.

What? Everyone has not been charged with assault. I really don’t get the defending of this guy who is on the run from cops in his sister’s car. That is not the behavior of an innocent person. Everyone has moved out of the apartment. Let’s just call it unusual.

Just go to Virginia court records, go to general district court, pick the Charlottesville district, and do a search under Matthew. You’ll get about 12 or 14 or so recent hits, of which four seem to be the guy in question, whose birthday is in December. He’s the junior. The senior or other guy, whatever, has an August birthday. I’m assuming its not the same guy but you can’t tell for sure because the years of birth are redacted for some reason.

The part that looked possibly like his father (my speculation) is his same name, but without the “Jr.”, and also with a different birthday. There are four or five items that are definitely his (person who fled), and the birthdate matches the one the police have put on their “wanted” poster.

Sally, what are you talking about? I haven’t convicted him of murder. I haven’t even reached the conclusion that she’s no longer alive. What are you reading?

He has arrests in surrounding areas, as well. Or maybe it’s someone else with his name and birthdate.

Well, if one wanted to speculate… But, I don’t. And, yes I do know arrested is not the same as convicted. I don’t know what your point is, though. Police want this guy very badly. We’ll know soon if they have a good reason.

You just said you were fine with “putting two and two together.” Which is pretty much the definition of speculating.

Look; if this guy had something to do with Hannah’s disappearance I hope he gets exactly what he deserves. But I don’t have much confidence that the police are doing a very good job in this case.

“You just said you were fine with “putting two and two together.” Which is pretty much the definition of speculating.”

Yeah, I disagree with this. I would call that math or more accurately in a case like this logical thinking. There are three police agencies and the FBI involved here and I have no reason to think they’re all a bunch of dummies. None.

Interestingly the public defender’s office has said they are not allowed to assist anyone who wasn’t charged with a crime. He hasn’t been so who is his lawyer?

They are not a bunch of dummies…but they let their main person of interest get away. And they still can’t find him OR the missing girl. It has been nine days.

And you did mention Twitter. You can’t have logical thinking with partial detail. You can, howver, admit to speculating, based on what you have heard. But the onus is still on you to have heard correctly, done some legit confirmation (that’s different from saying these multiple sources are repeating the same headlines.) And there are more than 4 agencies involved.
