Search on for missing UVa student

I agree that he bears quite a resemblance to the 2005 sketch. Not to mention, the age and appx height are fairly close as he was described in that wanted poster.

It appears to me that when the FBI “enhanced” that sketch after the hit to Morgan Harrington, and they showed him with and without facial hair, they changed some of his features. His face looks skinnier. I assume it was “age progressed”, but even his ears are different to me, so I don’t see it as much there. However, his hair is pretty spot on.

But, the FBI in their write up about Harrington, indicates that based on where she was found, her killer was "intimately familiar with the farm and the surrounding area where the body was recovered.” While I have no way of knowing of Jesse would be intimately familiar with the farm, a taxi driver would certainly be VERY familiar with the surrounding area. So, IMO, there are too many similarities when taking everything together to not take a closer look. If it is just a freakish coincidence, and they were able to get his DNA, then he can be ruled out.

If they get a DNA link from him to any other cases I don’t think it matters much what happens to him. That’s game over. Also, a cab driver is probably the ideal job for somebody interested in taking advantage of young woman. This is getting creepier.

Maybe, it’s another freakish coincidence.

That link is from September of 2013. Randy Taylor all along has claimed that someone else besides him had contact with Alexis.

What’s the possible connection between Alexis Murphy and the missing UVA student?

Also, if this dreadlocked fellow is a serial killer, as some folks here on CC speculate, that’s one of the rarest sociopath types ever identified by U.S. law enforcement; a black serial killer. I think that the FBI has documented only one, the guy in Cleveland a few years back.

Yeah, I know but did you see the description of the person of interest? And here’s a photo of Alexis walking by an orange car on the last night she was seen. The coincidences are piling up. And, I’m pretty sure the police are aware of it. Also, I’m not suggesting he’s a serial killer. Neither did the cops. But, something is connecting some these cases.imho.

<a href=“New Surveillance Pictures of Alexis Murphy, FBI Searches Home for Cellphone”>http://www.wset.com/story/23085986/new-surveillance-pictures-of-alexis-murphy-fbi-searches-home-for-cellphone

Well, that’s sure a teeny sliver of color- and Taylor said burgundy. Can I remind that the 29 corridor takes one through many different sorts of areas?
And btw, Cville has issues, but it is far down the list of high crime cities/areas, not even on the top 100, as far as I see. Some surprising places a distant person might perceive as safe are ranked far more dangerous. I do wonder how many here are familiar with the dynamics in paces where city and rural intersect.

Lake Washington: A black serial killer was identified in Los Angeles recently. He had been killing for years before he was caught.

The police took more clothes from Matthew’s apartment this morning.

I had trouble opening your link, Flossy, so I’m not going to try to go back in. But I think Taylor said burgundy( and of course colors can change) and a Chevy Caprice. I believe Matthew’s car has been described as a burnt orange 1998 Chrysler coupe.

And yes, Charlottesville and the surrounding counties , Route 29 corridor is a very large area.

Wayne Williams (probably the Atlanta child murderer) is black.

"The suspect told his lawyer that Alexis had connected him with a man to buy marijuana.“He said they drank a beer together and they smoked. The girl did not smoke or drink anything,” Hallahan told NBC29 in August. “It’s a black male, mid- to late 20s, cornrows and a 20-year-old burgundy Caprice with 22-inch wheels.”

Well, if I was investigating these cases I believe I would be taking a second look at this, among other things. Forensics from the car are expected this afternoon. The clothes are being sent to the state crime lab, today.

I’m sure they are looking at everything, Flossy. There is only a vague description of a black male, nothing about heght and weight (and Matthew is distinctive in that regard). Age somewhat different , car described older and a different color and model, etc. I believe cornrows are different than dreadlocks also and Matthew has dreadlocks, not cornrows. But you never know.

I seem to have read many times that serial rapists and murderers usually stick to a single type of victim, and rarely cross racial boundaries. But the Fairfax victim was evidently an Urdu speaker, and Morgan Harrington was a Caucasian blonde. Those two cases are definitively linked by DNA. If Randy Taylor is telling the truth and someone else killed Alexis Murphy, she was black. The only things they seemed to have in common were being young, female, and alone.

And if any DNA does link Hannah and Morgan’s case, I’m sure they will take a closer look at the Alexis Murphy case

That’s three then; Cleveland, Los Angeles and Atlanta. And the whack job Wayne Williams in Atlanta has never revealed the whole truth about his involvement in the killings/disappearances. Although I believe the Atlanta authorities rushed the case, were sloppy and had fuzzy evidence, in my mind Williams was guilty. All of Williams victims were black. As Consolation said, data indicates that murders are in the main, confined to perps and victims of the same race.

Somehow they got probable cause to impound his car and conduct two separate searches of his apartment. And the second time they went back seeking specific articles of clothing. They must have something. The police chief said yesterday the prosecutor wanted more. I don’t get the race part of this. He’s on video. And, I’m pretty sure people of all races have killed each other. The guy that was convicted of killing the black girl was white, btw…

The race part is when one looks at multiple images and finds similarities that boil down to: black male, certain age range. And maybe “similar hair texture.” Then the reasons given are; well, could have changed his hair style, gotten two years older or younger, shaved or grown a beard, etc.

The hospital should have had an employee security check- any word on that?

He did change his hairstyle and he gained a ton of weight. There are old photos. I do wonder how this person got a job at all. Then again, on the first day of one of my kids’ summer jobs the police came in arrested a cook and hauled him way. So, I guess it’s not that hard.

@actingmt I was just commenting that although black serial killers are comparatively rare, the rapist/killer in the Fairfax/Harrington cases has already confounded the odds by choosing victims of different races.

As for the other part of it, if you don’t think that young black men–including completely law-abiding ones–are far more likely to have contact with the police and amass traffic tickets than young white men…I have a bridge to sell you.

Remember the Green River killer, south of Seattle? His victims included various ethnicities, though the commonality was that most of the young women were from troubled backgrounds; runaways and the like; street girls.

Ted Bundy (also of Seattle, unfortunately) preyed on a specific type of victims; almost always college aged women. As I recall he found victims at campuses in Washington, Oregon, Utah and Florida.
