Search on for missing UVa student

The fundraising campaign for JM has been halted after this morning’s developments. Sorry about that link. I didn’t know. Here’s Morgan’s mom this morning. The whole thing is chilling.

http://wavy.com/2014/09/29/full-interview-morgan-harringtons-mom-discusses-hannah-graham-case/

The Morgan Harrington case was linked to a rape in Fairfax, Virginia by DNA. That woman survived because someone approached during the assault and the rapist ran away. Earlier Matthew was accused of rape in Lynchburg. It’s certainly looking like a serial killer/rapist is now behind bars.

Maybe if they take the death penalty off the table in exchange for information, the prosecutors could not only find the remains of Hannah Graham but clear up the disappearances of other women also.

They’re probably looking for matches with every missing girl in the last 15 years. There are a lot of missing girls in that area.

I’m so impressed by Morgan Herrington’s parents’ devotion to finding justice for their daughter. They have helped out on the other missing girl cases and have kept Morgan’s image and story in the public consciousness. I hope they get answers.

Matthews seems to be a predator. I bet there will be other young women coming forward with close calls. I believe there were a couple of rapes reported the week before Hannah went missing.

There are reports of close calls or offers of rides or general creepiness everywhere, now. Something also happened at CNU. He went there briefly after leaving Liberty. This guy has left quite a trail of destruction and I bet we don’t know the half of it, yet.

http://hamptonroads.com/2014/09/suspect-missing-uva-student-case-attended-cnu

Morgan Harrington’s father just told the Today Show he began to suspect the two cases were related about two weeks ago. That’s almost immediately. They have always said there was a “monster walking among us”. Police knew they were up against a potential serial killer, imho. And, I think they knew it was JM.

Re: Post #397.

Was it really necessary to repeat that “in a box” statement? A bit ghoulish, isn’t it?

Sorry. It was reality. The whole thing is horrifyingly ghoulish, I guess. Gil Harrington was making a point dramatically and has been living this unpleasant reality for 5 years now. She chose her words carefully and with intent, imho. And, thankfully, people are listening. The details are not pretty and she has shared them all in an effort to “Save The Next Girl”. Hopefully, it finally worked.

I suppose the reality of this all is to not allow yourself to be in a defenseless circumstance (unobservable, and un hearable) with people that you don’t know and trust.

There is a current story about a slain Arkansas realtor that fits this profile as well, although less clearly, since it happened on the job.

Did the realtor do everything she should have done? ie, asking potential buyers to come into the office and making copy of their driver licenses?

I’ve looked at a lot of houses, and I’ve never been asked for my driver’s license!

I don’t know about the realtor. What a horrible story that is. We had a case like that in our state a few years ago. Who is really more vulnerable than a person showing a vacant house to a stranger?

I think people are starting to change the way they do things - just too many of these horror stories. My H gets mad at me because I bring a lot of these stories to my teenage D’s attention. H thinks it will make her afraid of the world. I tell H we have good reason to be afraid. If she thinks twice about going out alone at night or getting into a car with a boy she doesn’t know then I have done my job.

The number of past crimes being re-investigated for a possible link to this suspect is mind-boggling.

Tomorrow’s bond hearing is canceled until December. He may still appear on the traffic warrants. Per Commonwealth Attny. Evidence is sealed per his lawyer.

It never occurred to me until today how unsafe being a realtor is. Very scary!

@harvestmoon1, I too have shared those horror stories with my dd.

We spoke about Hannah Graham this past weekend …dd says, “I keep thinking of your words mom, never being out alone at night & always drinking safely.” My heart breaks for that girl & her family. My dd would always joke that she was too tall for anyone to want to snatch her, “too much of a challenge” as she put it. Hannah Graham is almost 6’ tall.

I think her compromised state negated any advantages that her physical height may have given her. Heartbreaking all the way around.

He is a 6’2", 270 lbs and was called a gently giant by friends, who it seems didn’t know him very well.

Jesse Mathew is not requesting bond at this time according to his attorney. Meanwhile the search has been expanded into Nelson County. And, it’s now the first ever search for a missing person to utilize drone technology.

I have a gf who is a realtor who sometimes calls me on her way to meet someone to give me the address, name and even will have me stay on the phone for a while.
