Search on for missing UVa student

Glad she’s still in the news. How sad.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/13/us/hannah-graham-disappearance/index.html?hpt=hp_t2</a></p>

At least they seem to have the guy that took her and hopefully enough evidence to prove it. And, a couple of other cases, too.

It’s been a month - I just cannot imagine the state of mind of Hannah’s parents at this point in time. If the police are sure this is the guy they need to break out the bamboo shoots and get some answers out of him. This is sad beyond words.

I will say that one thing that caught my eye was an online article a few weeks back stating this area of Virginia was a known sex trafficking route. Hard to believe but wonder if law enforcement are pursuing this angle at all.

I’m guessing the strongest case they have against Matthew is the Harrington case. If so , there will be an intense focus on that. One of the issues would be to determine that he was in the area that night, and didn’t have a “visiting friends in Richmond alibi”.

They might have the guy but they don’t have her. I doubt her parents will rest until they find her.

Her parents and everyone else knows this is not likely to end well. The Morgan Harrington connection was known by them and by the police a long, long time ago. People also forget that there’s another llnk to a 2005 rape case with a living victim who got away. And, who knows how many others. For example, there’s the Liberty case in 2002 and then the UVA case after that and the Morton case, maybe, and even the Murphy case, maybe, on and on. And, the search continues and everyone continues to hold onto every little last shred of hope. But, everyone also knows they are shreds at this point which doesn’t mean they don’t all still want and need to find her. Sadly.

Also, Morgan Harrington’s body was found 3 months after she disappeared after the Metallica concert. There was a massive search effort in that case, too. But, the suspect was not behind bars.

There is a possibility that they may find a bit of DNA in the cab after five years especially if he put Morgan H. in the trunk. I’d hate to have the job of collecting all the DNA in an old taxi though. I can easily dismiss the story that the police told a cab driver that Morgan H. was last seen getting into a cab. The investigator was probably trying to gain the cab driver’s cooperation and give a plausible reason for interviewing cab drivers. The story at the time was that Morgan H. was last seen hitchhiking at the bridge outside the arena. I believe cab companies have to keep good records so it should be possible to determine if Matthew was working. It is possible for a cabbie to work under the table, that is, pick up fares when he’s off duty.

Fresh topic today in the paper was how much schools share about disciplinary action with other schools when there’s a transfer:

http://www.timesdispatch.com/washingtonpost/news/what-did-liberty-cnu-share-about-uva-suspect-jesse-matthew/article_40df79e6-a1c4-5a96-b442-41f7b29688fd.html</a></p>

Reports are he was working as a cabbie that night. One issue is that there are so many agencies involved in this case that when one police department says it didn’t happen that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen somewhere else. I also saw a report that cops have evidence Hannah was in the orange car. They didn’t say what, though. And, I’m sure there’s a lot they are not sharing with the public.at this point.

Well, this is creepy. From a CNN interview with a local talk show host talking about a bouncer at a local bar…

“He said, Jesse had a type, blonde, preppy, a university girl, upper middle class and look for the drunkest among them,” he continued. “I told him, ‘Dude, you’re going to get yourself in a world of trouble. These girls don’t know who they’re dealing with, and they don’t know your intentions.’ He told him, you’re not welcome here. You’ve made too many of the girls uncomfortable. I can’t let you back in here. He finally did let him back in towards the end of the summer, because he kept pleading with him. But he said even then he would come by around at 1:30 at night at last call looking for the drunkest girl in the place. And they had to keep an eye on him. And he told me, quote, ‘He always came in looking for a victim.’”

If the bouncer knew Matthew had a pattern, why didn’t he tell the police–either during the time he frequented the bar or within the last month?

A person who chooses to talk to a talk show host rather than the police isn’t wildly reliable, IMHO. Although it could well be that he already talked to the police, and now just wants to draw attention to himself.

As for before Hannah’s disappearance, if bars threw out every guy looking to hit on drunk girls, they’d be half empty.

I can’t imagine the anguish of Hannah’s parents listening to that bar bouncer talk about how aware he was of the suspect Matthews’ pattern.

There’s so much online speculation going on that it’s really difficult to separate fact from fiction. The wait is just so unbearably sad. Someone knows something. How I wish they would just do the right thing.

If the only someone who knows something is the guy in jail he’s not going to do the right thing. He’s going to hope they never find her because that is the end of him.

Pretty much agree that the person who likely knows the most about where Hannah is will not speak up and do the right thing as there is nothing to gain for him by doing so. That is, unless there ends up to be some sort of plea bargain at some point.

However, there is still hope that maybe someone else knows something that is helpful in locating Hannah. For example, anyone who saw Jesse Matthews’ car after he left the restaurant/bar. Any sitings of his car would help with where he went next. As well, anyone who saw him come home or the next morning. Things like that may not tell where Hannah is but would narrow the clues down as to what happened in those hours and where she might be.

Of course I am not expecting the main suspect to come forward without some type of incentive to do so. Like soozie, I continue to hope that someone who saw the vehicle will report the location and time of the sighting.

Police have received over 3-thousand tips and Chief Longo did say at one point that they have evidence of her in the car. That could be forensics or it could be a witness. Interestingly, he also said they have narrowed the timeline during the investigation. But, we don’t know what they know., so that could have happened. I mean, the car is orange. It’s a pretty unique vehicle.

I thought serial killers usually looked for the same type of victim or killed them in the same way.The shooting deaths of the Virginia students seems different. Did they ever say how Morgan was killed?

I wonder if his roommates have any information about his activities on the night in question.I assume they have been questioned extensively.
