I started watching the Lisa kiddos & Ray Romano series on Netflix. I’m mixed about it
Saw WICKED over the weekend. It was, as I anticipated, a spectacle! I enjoyed it a lot . . .I still love the show and IMHO there is nothing like watching a cast sing and dance a live production number right on stage.
I watched a few behind the scenes and making-of videos about WICKED. Holy cow, I cannot imagine how much money was spent on it! They literally built the Emerald City, there was not nearly as much CGI as one would assume for this.
Interesting. I assumed most of it was CGI. I’ll have to look for behind the scenes info. I really enjoyed it. Went to it with no experience with the play or the book it’s based on.
Without spoiling anything, there was much less CGI than you would think. The dancing scene in the library was all real; they hired gymnasts and parkour experts etc. The entrance to the city and OZ etc, all real. Cynthia Erivo did a lot of the stunts herself.
My standards must be low. We watched Red One with a group of friends we visited this weekend. It was a fun and mindless movie, which was good to watch at the end of a busy day along with Korean take-out.
Anything done with a group of friends and some take-out is a win in my book!
Just watched Carry-On – glad we’re not flying anywhere over the holiday Reminded me a bit of the movie Red Eye.
We just watched This is Christmas thanks to the suggestions here and really enjoyed it. It had a Love Actually vibe (love is all around) in a G rating. Bravo. DH added it to his annual Christmas movie list which is saying a lot.

And here is the Dancing Through Life breakdown.
I recently saw Conclave at home. Being a kinda-former-Catholic, it was interesting to me but I was not surprised at the politics portrayed. Good performances all around, although the ending was … unexpected.
I definitely want to see Wicked when it streams.
Obviously, movies like this use a lot of artistic license, and while few details of conclaves leak out, every nonfiction book I’ve ever read on the topic of the RCC has indicated that the inner workings of the Vatican, and particularly the Curia, are positively Machiavellian.
I recall years ago when my oldest was in Confirmation classes (10th grade) and the priest filling in to teach their class was discussing how popes got elected. He was amazed how much the kids knew about the process—many had just read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown!!
During a recent trip, I watched a couple of movies I somehow missed when they just came out: The Notebook and Jackie. The former is a very sweet romantic story with a sad happy ending. The latter is starring Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy and depicts her during the events following the JFK assassination. Very different movies, and I liked them both.
We watched Carry On last night and enjoyed it. I didn’t fall asleep so it kept my interest.
I love this movie. The true and honest attraction between the two of them makes my heart go pitter patter.
Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
Found this: "Gosling and McAdams apparently hated each other on set, got into some squabbles and would storm off the set sometimes. But they had obvious sexual chemistry, like really obvious; their hips are practically twitching for each other in some scenes. Months after the shooting was over and they were promoting the movie, apparently they just acknowledged they had the hots for each other and became an item for a while. "
Speaking of Ryan Gosling just saw The Fall Guy on a plane. Cute love story, lots of ridiculous stunts. Dumb plot. Fine for a plane.
Thanks! My next one to watch before Alaska removes it.
My husband was wondering why the actor looked familiar (he did not recognize Ryan Gosling lol ). So I told him, “That’s the guy who landed on the Moon and then went on to dance with Barbie!”
Just got home from seeing Wicked. That’s 2 1/2 hours I’ll never get back.
Yikes! I’m going today with my family - not a musical fan but hoping I’ll like it
My family loved it, but we also loved the musical and are into musical theater.
