Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

We saw Wicked on stage in San Francisco a while ago. Scored last minute tickets for front row seats! It is a terrific play.

For anyone who has read the book, but not seen the play. They are very different. The play is much tamer

I still haven’t seen Jaws. My husband wanted to see Wicked because his brother raved about it. I generally hate Broadway musicals and no surprise I hated it. I haven’t seen Frozen or most of the newer Disney movies either.

I thought I was.

I did finally see it last week. Hated it.

That would be a good reason not to see it, but I don’t attend live events in any case. I did enjoy the book. My experience is almost always the movie/play doesn’t hold up to the book, so I gave those up long ago. Apparently, my mind’s eye is better than any production.

I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Frozen is meh. But try Moana - I’ve watched it close to 100 times now and still haven’t gotten tired of it.

D24 & I saw F1 tonight. It was awesome. Music was awesome, but Hans Zimmer composed the score, so of course the music was awesome.

Going to see it next week! I had no idea Zimmer composed the score. A big plus for us!

We decided to refresh our memories by first re-watching The Accountant. So glad we did! It’s amazing how much of the plot / characters we had forgotten. Good movie, albeit a bit more violent that we’d like… we’ll put up with it though for a good storyline. A few nights later we watched Accountant2. Like that too.

Just returned from seeing F1 for my mom’s birthday - my oldest kid has been a fan since he was little and he got her into it. The racing sequences were exciting, the soundtrack excellent. The story was simple and as expected. I admit to being disappointed in Pitt’s performance. I’m a fan and I believe I’ve seen all of his movies, but he was a weak link for me in this film. I still really enjoyed it and the racing fans thought it was well done.

I saw it. It was OK, but nothing really new.

But a new documentary I really enjoyed was Mariska Hargitay’s project - My Mom Jayne {Max).

Just finished watching My Mom Jayne as we just discovered Mariska Hargitay in ER (which we’ve been bingeing for weeks). We thought it was well done, though we weren’t prepared for the “secret” as we didn’t know much about Mansfield’s life other than her highly publicized death.

I knew because it was all over the news the last couple of weeks.

I’m familiar with Mariska from SVU, and I know who Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay were as names, that was about the extent of it. I never knew she had so many siblings / half-siblings

I’ve been binging ER as well! I’ll watch the documentary, I’ve been a Mariska fan since 1996 when I used to watch law and order during my oldest’s nap time (I’ve seen every episode numerous times).

Just returned from the movie theater after watching F1. A perfect summer “feel good” flick. Just what we needed! No monsters, killings, swamp creatures, or any of that disgusting nonsense. Great music, as others have noted, too. Liked it a lot!

Thanks. I loved The Accountant. Will find a time to watch The Accountant 2. Will have to do it on my own. ShawWife has such a visual memory that violence in a film keeps replaying in her mind.

On airplanes, I watched two Jason Statham films, The Beekeeper and Working Man. Light on plot but fun action.
