Does anyone know what science selective colleges look for senior year? My son has had Honors Bio in 9th grade, Honors Chem in 10th grade and AP Bio in 11th grade. He wants to take either AP CHEM or AP PHYSICS as a senior. He is interested in pre-med as a major. Which will colleges prefer? (Bucknell, UVA, Vanderbilt, Cornell, UNC, Duke, etc.)

Which will colleges prefer?
AP PHYSICS . He will also need it to help him prepare for the more intensive physics classes he has to take in college which are required of all premeds.

This is our experience only…most colleges prefer a LAB science. Truthfully, they don’t care which one as long as it’s a lab science.

I do agree, however, if his interest is premed…physics would be a good choice.

I am inclined to agree with MenloParkMom. As your son has already taken Chemistry, albeight honors rather than AP, it would be good to round out his transcript with Physics.

Take AP Physics. Colleges like to see some form of Bio, Chem, and Physics on a transcript. Or you can double up on science and take both AP Physics and AP Chem.

I agree. Complete the high school sequence with Physics.
