I just watched the last episode of Smash–I was out of the country when it aired–and was horrified to learn that it had been cancelled. I really loved that show. The talent was enormous. What a shame.

We miss Smash. (DH refused to ever try watching Glee. But he and I both enjoyed Smash). The finale episode was nice.

That was such a good show. I remember the season where Forest Whitaker was trying to catch Vic Mackey. Whitaker was such a good actor, I really feared he would catch Vic and end the show regardless of what the writers wanted.

Old show/cartoon my daughter is currently watching all of (that I loved back in the day): Daria.

Not available: Freaks and Geeks.

Freaks and Geeks on Netflix.

Yeah razor, I loved hating Whitaker’s character. I missed The Shield when it was on TV, I became aware of it because a producer/writer/director of it also created Sons of Anarchy…another show with characters that I sometimes love and sometimes hate.

Did anybody watch" The Paradise" on PBS last night?

The season started out slow, but the “Weiner Night” episode this week of The Mindy Project was laugh out loud hilarious.

Thanks to all (and college-query for the link - post #270) who recommended Last Tango in Halifax. I’m over halfway through (finished episode 4 out of six) and am thoroughly enjoying it.

I’m shocked that there’s been such little mention of Game of Thrones. I can’t wait for season 4. Boardwalk Empire seems a little weak this season, I hope it turns around. Dexter had a fairly weak ending. Ray Donovan showed promise. Strikeforce is very low brow, but fun for those who like a lot of action. I loved the first two season of Homeland and plan to start season 3 soon, but reviews (just read headlines) have been poor. I saw the first season of Justified and keep meaning to watch more. Some day I’ll get to Breaking Bad.

Monk became terrible for this- they would schedule a couple of ‘Monkisms’ per show. Ugh.

Has anyone seen the Canadian show Endgame (streaming on Amazon)?

Its about an iconoclastic Russian chessmaster who lives in a hotel penthouse, has a fear of leaving the hotel, and is forced by circumstances to become a detective.

Its a fun update on Nero Wolfe not leaving his brownstone but still solving crimes. And the mystery component is usually well constructed too.

USA network started new seasons of Covert Affairs & White Collar last night, but I didn’t know. I wish there was a way to fast-forward with OnDemand!!! Someone needs to figure out a hack for that!

I am also enjoying Last Tango in Halifax. My H doesn’t like it; too much “soap opera” for him. We are watching The White Queen and enjoying that. I had to look up the history of the War of the Roses to understand it.

Anybody else been watching this season of American Horror?

AllThisIsNewToMe – here’s how I get around the fast forward problem with On Demand. Most of the new shows have fast forward disabled, but I have been successful using the remote button that jumps ahead in 5 minute increments. For a commercial break, I jump 5 minutes ahead and then rewind just a bit if needed. Not perfect, but I find it preferable to sitting through commercials. And the 5 minute button is very helpful if I need to speed through to catch up on just the end of an episode.

bookiemom, I love Last Tango in Halifax. DH watches too and enjoys it. Maybe it’s because it shows at 8:00. He’s usually snoozing in the recliner before the 9:00 shows are over. Last weekend we watched several of last season’s Upstairs Downstairs episodes. DH liked those. Does anyone know if/when there will be a new episoddes of Upstairs/Downstairs ?

Netflix. United States of Tara.

Betrayal…not sure why I like it but I really, really do.

Another White Queen fan. Only taping it now to watch later but what I’ve seen, I’ve enjoyed. I also want to go back and look up the history. I love the strength of the women on the show.

We watched the first episode of Horror Story Coven and I loved it. Usually stay away from witch stuff but since we just spent a weekend in the French Quarter, I watched for the scenery.

Actually watched the first episode of Walking Dead. Son and Husband are fans, and I’m very anti zombie, but have become intrigued by the character development in the series, similar to Breaking Bad. Hope I can hang in there through the gore and that it will be minimal this season.

I’m not sure if I have mentioned this earlier but one of my favorite shows, and one I make sure I watch every week is CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood. Excellent correspondents, wonderfully interesting and diverse stories, it’s such a fun show. Watching it right now, so thought I’d share.
