Share TV series you have discovered and love

Who is watching The Good Wife? Looks like next week it will all hit the fan!

I never ever watch broadcast network TV, so I don’t discover those shows until they go into syndication. My new favorite is Modern Family, which is friggin hilarious. I so relate to Mitch’s nervous perfectionist parenting.

I don’t know if this has been officially announced or not but a couple of friends who have worked on The Killing each season told me a while ago that the show will come back for a fourth, short final season in 2014 on NetFlix.

A big thank you for the recommendations of United States of Tara and Last Tango in Halifax. Was hoping DH wouldn’t take to the latter so I could watch while he’s away but he watched the pilot and LOVED it, so I’ll just have to be patient.

I just finished watching “The Fall” on Netflix, a BBC 5-part series starring Gillian Anderson that was miles above the typical police-chasing-a-serial-killer offering. The acting was marvelous, from British actors I didn’t know. What can’t a British actor do? It was fairly violent in a wrenching, not cartoonish or exploitative way. There was too much plot, but a second season is planned that will, I hope, tie up the loose ends.

Something I didn’t know about Gillian Anderson - she is “bi-dialectical,” meaning that she speaks easily and convincingly in two dialects: American (she was born here) and British (she was raised in England for much of her youth).

I love the Good Wife but I hate having to hate Will this season.

I tried to download Call the Midwife to watch, after seeing it mentioned on CC a bunch of times. Accidentally downloaded “The Midwives,” instead, which is a British reality show that is nothing but watching dozens upon dozens of real women give birth. I watched an entire episode thinking, “this is really that show everybody likes so much? People really watch this!?”

I had not ever seen a woman give birth before, and my fiance and I are just starting to discuss babies in the near future. You can imagine my reaction. Quite the eye opener, to say the least.

Looking forward to watching CALL the Midwife instead…

H and I finally jumped on the Breaking Bad bandwagon about two weeks ago (better late than never). After another marathon session this weekend, we should be able to finish up season 4 (we are not quite halfway through it, yet) and maybe start season 5.

Over winter break, I got to binge watch Elementary and Parenthood and I love them already.

Jonny Lee Miller is brilliant!

We are starting season 5 of breaking bad later tonight. Even my 76 year old mom watches with us and asks at the end of each episode “One more?” Really love this show and am getting depressed in advance knowing we’ll be done soon.

Haha!! That would be H’s perfect description of me. Our rule of thumb is we go upstairs to bed at 10PM each night, so some week nights we can get in two episodes, and some nights, it’s only one. But we run loose and wild on the weekends, and might stay up past 11PM to watch ‘one more’! So I’m looking forward to what this weekend’s marathon holds.

I think I’m the only person who couldn’t get into Breaking Bad. I got to s3 before I stopped watching.

It’s a good show, I just disliked Walter and couldn’t get ‘into it’ that much.

Maybe I’ll watch to the end anyway.

DH and I have watched into the second season so far. Some of the episodes are profoundly disturbing to me (the one with the little kid whose parents were meth-head). It’s gonna take us a while, but I imagine we will finish it. Eventually.

Sherlock, season 3 comes back this Sunday.

Oh - that’s great. In the meantime, we have been enjoying the “Elementary” Sherlock series.

I haven’t read everything but was going to mention The Killing. I see someone beat me to it. I finished it recently but it is definitely one of my favorites! Such quirky characters that are out of the norm. I have also read there will be a short season this year to close out the series so I’m holding my breath! I just started Sherlock (not Sherlock Holmes or Elementary) and am enjoying it. There are only a few episodes over 3 seasons. It’s a little hard to understand sometimes- very fast talking English accent- but entertaining. I also like The Bridge, but it is now on hiatus. I’m hoping it returns.

I like Sherlock and I do use the subtitles a lot to be able to understand all the dialogue. I like the Orange is the New Black, The Mindy Project and Once Upon a Time. Getting tired of very violent series.

SUITS, Sherlock, mr selfridge - binge watching all these starting from season one!

Borgia, not to be confused with Borgias.

We purchased a “smart” tv for Christmas and ordered Netfix streaming. Wow! Best entertainment on a cold winter evening! Love House of Cards- Season 2 starts in Feb. I am enjoying Orange is the New Black- it is too much for DH. I have followed the Killing on AMC. Am I understanding from previous posters that it will move and wrap up on Netflix? Joel Kinneman is on track for big screen success I think.
