I think that the key thing is that are working in Chicago. There are 150 plus theaters there, not all of them very fancy, but that’s a lot of theaters. I’ve been watching the upcoming seasons as they get announced, and it seems like every theater is doing at least a couple of world premieres. It’s just a really exciting place to be and not as hard to crack open as NYC if you’re young and starting out.
@Jkellynh17 Ok. Just curious, as my daughter is going to DePaul this fall.
@Jkellynh17 Gosh, that is so sweet of you. I LOVE Chicago. I want to end up there eventually regardless of where I attend school (so the location is a huge plus for DePaul!)
I am definitely excited to be on the waitlist at Carnegie, but I am equally as excited to be accepted at DePaul. No matter how things play out, there really isn’t any losing at this point, even though the new wait list stress isn’t fun.
You have a great attitude @hannahMTheatre! You are going to be fine no matter where you end up and that school will be very fortunate to have you as a student!
Does anyone have any information about the number of acceptances to Boston Conservatory MT, the size of the incoming class, the number on the waitlist and how many, it any, are taken off of the waitlist?
My son told a school that we love that he is going somewhere else. Made me sick to my stomach. That is one thing we learned throughout this process, there are a lot of very wonderful people at some of these school and tough competition between the schools (not just the auditionees). The waiting is probably the hardest part, but telling “no” to a program you really connected with is really hard. I know he would have had a wonderful experience and been successful there. To make it worse, the email happened to cross with an email from the school offering him more money. Ugh!
@echowits, I’m thinking I know which school and bummer, but you can only go to one, right? Your son has some nice choices and will be fine where he lands.
Thanks to this board, my daughter’s classmate has found a possible college home! She wasn’t accepted to any BFAs, and as she was hoping to go near NYC, I directed her to posts about Drew by @bisouu . The classmate wasn’t familiar with the program but researched it, applied, was accepted with big $$$! She just visited (and connected with @bisouu’s daughter.) I haven’t heard conclusively if she’s attending yet, but I do know that she LOVED it, so regardless I think that’s a happy story.
@creatives My daughter had a wonderful time showing them around and introducing them to the head of the department as well as other professors. They attended the senior showcases (capstones) and seemed to really enjoy their visit.
