Ok. OMG. I had to go read and re-read, but D just got her acceptance to BoCo Contemporary Theater–which was her super-secret, tippy tippy top favorite.
Terrified of what the FA package may or may not be.
But she’s IN!!!

Well, S is now 0 for 5, with no programs left to hear from. I keep typing and deleting. Don’t know what I want to say yet, I guess.
Still very excited for everyone else, though, and looking forward to seeing more acceptances come in for all your kids. Congrats! <:-P
I am sorry to hear that. I know it doesn’t make it easier to hear, but 5 is not that many; we applied to 13; 10 were auditions and we’ve heard no from 4 and yes from 5. and waiting on 4. I would look for programs that are still open like Columbia, Chicago. there must be others. Or, what tempts me, is to take a year off; audition for summer theatre and festivals; save a bit of $$ and try again. my son attends an arts high school and the theatre kids are all auditioning for 12+ schools. Best of everything….
^^It was mentioned on the MT thread that the Acceptd site lists some schools that are still accepting applications.
So sorry to hear the news CrashCourseMom. My heart breaks for you and your S. Like dennehy, my D auditioned for 12 programs last year and then had 4 non-audition “safety” schools. Definitely look for open programs - it is only mid-March and seem to recall some discussion of options last year.
@Jkellynh17 - she just might at that! She keeps talking about going to Chicago after graduation. So you never know.
Check out Drew University…
Western Carolina University may still be taking applications. They have a BA and BFA Acting program.
I know he should have applied to more schools (we had about 15 on the list originally, until he rejected most of them for…reasons). That’s his mistake. He pretty much refused to accept 99% of the advice I gleaned from CC, refused help from his drama teacher, fought any and all help I offered him (and any help he did take was grudgingly) etc. He thinks he already knows it all and that my advice is “stupid.” Despite the fact that he’s been mostly a jerk (as teenagers can be) to me through the whole process, I still wanted him to succeed at this. I wanted him to be able to say “I told you so” to me. And while I’d like to think he will learn something about respecting the knowledge of people older and wiser than he, I know from past experience that he won’t, at least not until/unless he does a lot more growing up. (He is somewhere on the extremely high functioning end of the autism spectrum, which impacts all of it, but that’s a much longer post.)
I already floated the idea of applying to additional schools a while ago, and he has ruled that out, as I expected, and I don’t see him changing his mind. He did apply to and get accepted to Columbia College, and is pretty excited about the school, so for now I think that’s where he’ll be going. This assumes that he manages to graduate which is not at all guaranteed. I don’t know whether he will sink or swim if he gets there. I do know he has talent. Tonight he’ll be on stage performing in a competition – that wouldn’t be happening if he lacked talent. But as his drama teacher and I discussed (with great frustration), he probably would be a strong contender to win tonight if he had accepted some help preparing for the event.
Anyway. It will be a while before I know whether I’ll be writing the “he’s thriving and can’t imagine being anywhere else” kind of post in the future, or the “which schools accept transfer students/who has taken a gap year in the middle of a program/looks like it won’t be acting after all” kind of post. :-/
Thanks for suggesting options, I do appreciate it.
No from Emerson today. Waiting to hear from two more; she has one acceptance she’s excited about so anything else is gravy.
Anyone else get a call from New School yet? D has heard nothing.
Hubby reported the UArts envelope came in the mail today. D and I aren’t home yet, so who knows what it says.
We’re also waiting on new school.
@2019theatremom - what does it say? The suspense is killing me!
just received an email from New School that we will know something next week.
My UArts acceptance came in a really giant envelope!
Boston University releasing decisions now. D accepted.
I am seeing people posting New School acceptances. How did you hear?
we received an email telling that the decision had been posted on the student admission hub; the portal
I know that the SUNY kids all got phone calls, but I’m wondering if anyone has received a waitlist notification. I presumed that there would be a waitlist, since there’s no guarantee that the kids that were accepted will necessarily take the offer. And has anyone heard from Fordham? Waitlist, acceptance, or otherwise?
And my apologies, I accidentally posted this question on the MT forum a few minutes ago. I meant to post it here.
We received a yes on March 17 from Fordham it was updated on the portal
