D got an email yesterday from New School saying the decision would come 3/27 but then D got an email this morning that her decision was ready (YES)!!!
@annelisesmom UARTS was a no. D wasn’t bummed because of her BoCo yes earlier this week and her New School yes this AM (those were her top 2 faves).
Congrats to everyone’s flurry of acceptance activity this weekend amd good vibes and support for those bot getting the answers they hoped for.
Congrats @2019theatremom! Those are great admits!!! That is going to be a tough decision!
The expected NO from SUNY Purchase–but I got a huge paper cut opening the envelope. Insult upon injury, literally. Should have just tossed it.
Anyone catch tonight’s episode of The Middle ? LOL.
In the MT forum some of the 2019 folks have asked that only 2019 people post in their sharing, venting thread…do you guys feel the same way? I won’t be posting over there anymore, but wanted to make sure you guys were still interested in hearing from us “old timers”.
That MT forum group takes itself way too seriously.
Not ALL MT forum posters, @riptide96! LOL @bisouu, post there if you want to!
I was just jokin’… though there does tend to be a lot of ‘drama’ on that forum. And I agree, why would they not want support from parents & kids who have been through this challenging experience?
I think the concern was that some of it was going off on tangents that were not really supportive, but much of what is posted from “those that have gone before” is extremely helpful! I’ve just started to gloss over the tangents to get to the good stuff. @bisouu please stay. You are very valuable.
I welcome the post of those who have come before and have help to offer.
I’m new, so what website is the MT forum
Just click at the top of this page where it says “College Majors”, and it gives you the alphabetical list of majors, including “Theater/Drama Majors” (which is this forum) and “Musical Theater Majors”.
I have a drama student at The New School as well as Shenandoah if anyone has questions…
Thanks! I thought it was a completely different forum website. How I got here was googling trying to find any info I could.
wondering if there’s such a thing as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder for the college app process? now that the tutoring, applying, auditioning, waiting, is over now, all that’s left is the money issues and deciding, I feel like a zombie; numb. We’re pleased with the results, but wiped out. I’m joking really, but that was a year wasn’t it?
@dennehy I agree! I am exhausted and a little unsure what to do with my free time. Has your S decided?
We are waiting til we get our taxes back and we can verify the FAFSAs. His first choice is Depaul but we need to see which school is going to be the most affordable before we make our final decision. We are very lucky to have wonderful choices!
dennehy, PTSD for supporting our kids through this college process is real for us parents who have been there through the thick and thin of the roller coaster emotions that our kids have gone through from knowing that they have this dream and goal, to college visits, to the guiding them through the process, whether its helping with spreadsheets, through preparation, auditions, visits, and gauging the finances of all of this in addition to how to afford which program and the final decision. My D is class of 2017 and I have to say part of the cure or remission shall I say is staying in touch with some of the people that helped us through it here, paying it forward to future students and their parents. It truly is a wonderful community here that goes beyond as we get to support some of these kids in their future careers as many of us are seeing their shows during college and after their graduation. Wishing you all good luck in this final phase. Its very gratifying to see these kids blossom in their college choices and they truly appreciate the support we can give them to help them through the bumps along the way.
