Sharing, Venting, Supporting Class of 2018

When I took my son and his buddy to NYC last summer to check out college theater programs, we saw Mathilda and all LOVED it!!! Even though all 3 of us have different tastes in theater.

Come on Fordham just cut the cord already…

I think you should def see Kinky Boots and Matilda.

My S received an invitation today to the USC SDA Open House on April 1. In the past, that seems to be a precursor to admission - but until we have the actual “yes,” I don’t want to count any chickens.

Another vote for Matilda. Just accompanied the high school drama kids on our annual NY trip a few weeks ago. I frankly had very little interest in seeing Matilda, but we were absolutely blown away. We saw several other shows over the course of the weekend, but Matilda was everyone’s favorite.

Also a second to the several folks who said we aren’t being helicopter parents by helping our kids navigate this overwhelming process. This is my 2nd (and last) kid to go through this college audition journey and I think our kids are superstars, no matter where they land. This is hard. And they are all super brave. I don’t comment much, but I read this forum a lot and I so appreciate all of you mommas (and papas) and all your hard work! You are awesome too! Our kids are going to do great.

Sksaz…awesome about the USC open house!!

We love Broadway! Kinky boots. Matilda and newsies are all incredible! Wicked if you haven’t seen it

SJSAZ I am so excited for your son!

Ugh! Still not a WORD from Pace or Purchase! So frustrating not to know anything!

Agreed. Purchase and Syracuse left. We can deal with whatever comes our way but please…come our way soon!! Lol. Would like to visit schools on break but need to make plans. Also my “Shrek” needs to be able to focus on the school musical! I know it must be a huge job for these colleges and universities. They will probably be glad when it is all done as well.

Same here deamer18! My Maria (Von Trapp) is so stressed while trying to get ready for opening night in 2 weeks.

LOL! My “Tevye” did unifieds right before opening night…

sjsaz, great news! did your S apply to BFA?

Too funny! My “Golde” opens next month…

Thanks, ladies! S applied to USC BFA, but he really wants BA so he can take a lot of SCA classes and be on the drumline. The advice he got was to apply for BFA so he could do an audition, which he wouldn’t get to do if he applied for the BA. He as much as told his interviewer that he really wanted the BA. I’m kind of semi-assuming that’s what he got - but we won’t know for sure until we hear “officially.”

My “Tony” had his opening night last night. His Dad overheard him tell a friend where he is going to college next year. Eeeek! He knows we are waiting on the FA. The good news is he isn’t waiting on the remaining schools to notify. Should work out OK, but would like to wrap this process up.

Could today be the day we hear from Syracuse??? I hope so! Really wishing we had done more BA options but whatever will be…so happy for all of you who are in the deciding process. S just felt like it was so important to get in some where based on an audition. I know it is his journey but wishing I had been more persuasive .These kids are so brave! Good luck to all these great kids with their school musicals/plays as well.

You’re all too funny. Good luck to all the kids in those great shows. We are still waiting on five of the seven audition schools +2 non-audition. Have only heard from two. It’s killing me. Luckily we have an admitted students day at Michigan on Monday to look forward to in case everything we hear this weekend is a no. I don’t understand why SUNY and the California schools cant send an email or update the portal instead of relying snail mail for the rejections.

I am kind of wondering why everyone is assuming SUNY is all no’s at this point? Do we know of many calls or acceptances? I think there was one mentioned on FB and one mentioned here on CC? (Someone who knew a student who got a call.) SUNY has had a lot of trouble with their systems this year because they are updating them. I guess I wouldn’t be shocked to hear there are still acceptances waiting out there for some!
Or does anyone have better info?

Someone on Facebook said that if you didn’t get videotaped at unifieds it meant you didn’t get in. They made calls to

May be true…my D was not taped and she didn’t get in.
