Argh…SIA don’t fly to Boston. So…Delta or northwestern? Which has the best in-flight entertainment?

Isn’t Delta merging with NWA (check about codesharing etc. as it may end up being the same flight regardless of airline so just book the cheaper one in that case)?

For Boston try British Airways/Qantas through London or United through LA or Chicago. You can fly SQ into JFK and then take a short flight to Boston as well. Since you will make the flight often, pick the airline with the most generous frequent flyer plan//for the price as you can pick up upgrades and free tickets after a few years. If you are flying to Boston, it is much easier to make that your first stop in the US rather than clearing immigration elsewhere and then having to check in again (and check your luggage again).

hmm how come everyone’s going to boston?

my god… yeah maybe everyone’s going harvard/mit:)

^ Hardly the only 2 schools in Boston =p

ahem. no. those ARE the only 2 schools in Boston. :P

okay let’s stop the elitism and recall the CC mantra: “these are all excellent schools and what you should be looking for is fit. you can’t go wrong with any of these choices.”

they’re not in boston proper, they’re in cambridge…

but people fly to boston, they don’t fly to cambridge, MA

I’m 鸡蛋里挑骨头…

I’m so excited that I met a few people today that knew what my college was about. Whee

Don’t forget JetBlue.

Interesting alternatives include Greyhound/Amtrak.

I’m 鸡蛋里挑骨头… = I’m the egg selecting the bone… O_o

That’s what my translator gave me for that, Fiona! Either you said something really screwed up (proclaiming yourself to be a bone-digging-egg is definitely screwed up and LOL-worthy) or my Translator is screwey! LOL! O_o

hmm, if my chinese is not as bad as SEAB proclaims it is, then the meaning of ‘I’m 鸡蛋里挑骨头’ would mean that your trying to find fault with something…:)

Tuna it’s an idiom… Literal: Picking the bone from the egg, Idiomatic: Purposely trying to pick on fault (as Hermann said)

I have one question: I just got my Visa today and it will expire June 02, 2010. But supposing i want to stay in the US next June for whatever reason (to avoid the SEA heat, for instance), is it possible to get your visa extended in the US itself? Or do i have to come home, get a new Visa and fly over again?

Your legal status in the U.S. does not depend on the visa but on your I-20. The visa is only used for entering the U.S. Once you’re in, it does not matter how long you stay as long as the I-20 allows it.

However, should you leave the U.S. and re-enter after June 02 2010, then that’s going to be a problem. Given they only gave you a one-year visa…I assume you have a China passport?

@limnieng confused_vnese is a Vietnamese national.

lmao @ 鸡蛋里挑骨头

Haha how did you get the impression that i’m a Chinese ntl? xDD Thanks for your reply!

One more question, do we need SSN to open a bank account and to sign up for a phone plan in the US? If supposing i go with Bank of America and Verizon respectively?
