Okay, just browsed through the thread. Anyway, my school’s prelims dished out some really hardcore papers, and I foresee really bad grades on the horizon. I’m talking about possibly a D for math, and I’m not really sure for the others.

So, will that really hurt my chances? Just checking. ): I’m super demoralised now because my prelims grades are really going to suck.

^ Well I didn’t submit my prelim results - just my predicted grades. None of the schools said anything.

Oh, okay! (: ]On the apps page they make it seem like you have to submit every single exams result you’ve had since you were Sec 4. Haha.
Mind telling me what results you submitted? So that I can have a better gauge of which results to submit too. Thanks!

My O-levels (and Sec 4 EOY) and A-level predicted grades (and A-level grades after it came out for RD schools). I think I submitted just those + SATs and all the other usual stuff…

Do schools look at scores before Sec 4? I’m really worried!

Oh and how many people from Singapore go to MIT every year? My current school apparently has about 1-2 every year.

^ Really? What’s your school?
Yeah schools look at results starting from sec 3, but according to my jc college counselor they look at jc results more.

They technically do, but I didn’t send them and they didn’t say anything. Yeah, what is your school?

If u r IB, u can in fact just send the IP grad cert, predicted IB scores and the real ib scores once u receive them. that’s even better.

I’m not from IB.

I’m going to the school where the ‘papers are among the easiest around’ (as said by 1234d on the previous page) next year.

^ So you’re still sec4 now? In that case you should focus on doing well in jc and worrying about unis later.

p.s. mit admits around 1-4 rjc students every year.

@1234d: I meant the irony of us lamenting the fact that screwitlah and fiona_ have left this college admissions forum in order to go to college.

Hey frankchn, you stated, “My O-levels (and Sec 4 EOY) and A-level predicted grades (and A-level grades after it came out for RD schools). I think I submitted just those + SATs and all the other usual stuff…”

You mean you didn’t submit your other from Year 1 to Year 2 (common tests etc)? And I thought the As results came out a bit too late for us to use it even for RD or have I been wrong all along?

Nope I didn’t - they were too lousy. You could submit it for RD for their consideration - your A-level results will come out around the 1st Friday of March so your admissions decision will still probably be “in committee” and not finalized.

I went to the reception for Stanford 2013. There were more than 20 people there I think. But excluding the previously admitted NS guys, there were only 7-8 locals. The rest were children of expats studying in international schools.

Anyway I just realized that frankchn friended me on Facebook. lol

I think the JC formerly known as RJC do force students to submit prelim grades though.

Haha I did? I forgot who I friended on Facebook already - ping me.

I think '13 was a bumper crop - a lot of the guys were actually admitted '11 and served their NS first before going. I also don’t tend to count the Americans studying in SAS or UWC - they have it easier =p. So I think it is quite accurate - maybe 10-14 will place their deposit with Stanford (but they won’t all go that year due to NS).

The JC formerly known as HCJC started having the Prelim grades requirement after my batch.

i don’t think the rjc prelims rule is really enforced though.

Well it depends on your civics tutor since he/she is the one who mails your envelope.

AAAaaawww… Man! I would LOVE to go to school in Singapore. I love that place. I’ll bet it’s a pain in the arse for an American to go to school there, though, huh? This thread is confusing me also. :P
