Yeah, you won’t be able to take the Subject Tests and the Reasoning Test on the same day.

For the reasoning test, you will need to pay US$71 and US$9.50 for each additional school you want to send your SAT score report to (above the 4 free ones).

wait the reasoning test = SAT I ?? my friend says the SAT I consists of two english papers and one maths paper. all those are on the same day ??

btw by when do i have to tell them which school to send my scores to ? i haven’t really decided on all that yet, still waiting on my O level scores. or can i pay them to do it later on if i’ve got more than 4 schools to send scores to ??

thanks.

The Reasoning Test is the SAT I, and not really - the SAT I consists of 10 sections, of which 3 are writing (including the essay), 3 are math and 3 are English + 1 experimental section (unscored).

You can pay them later if you want.

Omg I just got accepted to Columbia ED! Would like to say thanks to frankchn and 1234d and other posters on this thread who’ve been so helpful in answering my doubts this admissions season!

Guys I really really need advice… :(

I dropped HMT last year because I wanted to go to Poly. But now I think I will head on to a JC instead because I’ll have a higher chance of getting into Stanford. But since I dropped HMT it means there is no chance of RJC/HCJC, right? I dunno about my CCA but I think the most it can deduct is 1. My results aren’t fantastic but I get A1s for my Maths and 3 Sciences. I do okay in Geography and bad in History/Social Studies.

What should I do? Which JC should I head on to? And do I have a chance? :(

I went through this thread, seems that most of you went to RJC/HCJC. I’m so lost right now, I’m really afraid that I wouldn’t be able to make it to Stanford if I don’t study at RJC/HCJC. Anybody has any advice whatsoever?

I know right now I should just concentrate on my O levels, but everyday I’m fretting over the JC issue. Going to Stanford is a big thing for me, it’s been my dream for the past few months.

Congratulations! Thanks for mentioning me  Hope to see you in the US soon =)

@frankchn: are all these tests given in one shot in one sitting or is there a break in between ?? seems like its awfully long lol

so reasoning basically contains the english and maths tests, total (maximum) score is 2400 i assume ?

thankss

(Saw your post on Talkback as well) No, it doesn’t matter whether you go to Raffles or Hwa Chong or not. For the Class of '12 (which was the class I was admitted with), we had around 4 RJ guys, 3 HCs (including me), 1 NJ and 2 ACJC I think. It is about you, what your results are, what your achievements are, not which school you came from.

Yes it is awfully long. I think you are given 2x 10-15 minute break and 2x 5 minute break. It is going to be a really long morning either way.

Yep.

ah sweet, thanks for all your help. really appreciate it :)

I think you should just do the best you can do, i.e. results and grade-wise, as well as pursuing what you love to do, and the rest will take care of themselves.

I don’t think there’s anything anyone can do to specifically get into Stanford or any other popular college choice (HYPSM is so overused), other than what you would normally do.

So just take a deep breath and try your best. There’s really nothing else you (or anyone else) can do.

waiting for Stanford EA results. gasp

Good luck!

Perhaps be more enthusiastic and seize whatever opportunities that come along and don’t let go? I rue over the missed opportunities I was offered in JC too.

rejected frm cornell=(

Thanks for the advice  Appreciate it a lot :)

Just curious, why are the majority of successful applicants from RJC/HCJC? What is it about these 2 schools that set them apart from the rest? Is it the exposure to leadership opportunities, or the education, or what?

Higher concentration of “top students” - in terms of leadership, Olympiad participation and all that. Those are things that the Ivies + other top schools want to see.

Hey guys, I’m applying to these schools for a Communications major with a concentration in advertising:
Michigan State University
Washington State University
Marquette University

I’m applying with my O levels so I guess my choice are rather limited? Anyways, can anyone give me their opinions on these schools or am I better off attending JC and applying with my A levels?

Thanks in advance :)

Uhh those schools aren’t that good. My roommate lives in Pullman (her dad is a prof at WSU) and she says its damn ulu and the college culture is pretty much drinking / frats.

where can i get a list of schools that accept students based on O level scores ?? i’m applying with my O levels as well…
