Same school as you, but this year there’s a new computer system (Naviance) whereby the school will automatically send out our grades to the colleges we’re applying to. Apparently, only our Sec 4, Promo and Prelim grades will be sent out through that system - though we still have the liberty to add in other results if we really want to.

But our counselor blocked it. So we can’t access any data. Only thing we can do is to send our school documents (recs, results) electronically to the colleges. But I’m really thankful that we are spared from the crazy paperwork. :D

From your chance thread haha. Anyway, can’t access any admission info on RJ from it.

Hi, I’ll just like to ask, if you apply to the top band of schools for EA/ED (top band = HYPSM type of schools), if you get deferred/rejected should you still try to apply this top band or focus your efforts on the next band of schools (chicago, duke, etc.)?

As far as I know, only Yale and Stanford have Early Action programs for international students (out of HYPSM that is). So I guess you have to focus your efforts on the next band of schools anyway.

Like would your happen to have any suggestion on how to rememdy a grade? i just started learning a new language - italian, and since it is so new to me, im a total disaster at it…like im getting just passes, does it affect me badly?

hey guys, i have a dilemma here. im a spore pr, so do u guys think i shud do NS? im gonna take my a’s nex year btw. does being a sporean/non sporean/doing ns/not doin ns hav any part to play in uni admission?

Guys was wondering, can we send the teachers’ evaluations if the teachers handed it back to us and asked us to send it ourselves?

I’m a transfer student from the UK and I have my lecturers’ evaluations with me in Singapore and was wodnering if they’d be hung up on the postmark since it’s not goign to be maield from UK but Singapore.

Are you learning it in school? If not, why not just not submit your scores?

well…the problem is, the language is part of the IB diploma…its a real pain…i mean, it pulled my IB predicted for my first term down significantly, like i got 34 out of 42 of which half of the marks were deducted from italian…but i guess it would help more in uni applications if i can bring it on an upward trend for the coming 2 semesters?

In an envelope with the school stamp over the flap - I think that is enough evidence of sealing. They don’t want the applicant to tamper with the contents.

Oh, so it is Italian ab inito? Well of course pulling up your grades through the next 2 semesters would help somewhat.

Most? Well 20+ a year go to HYPSM. Is that a lot? Among the Ivies I think Cornell has the highest Singaporean population. I believe Berkeley is quite popular as well.
