hello can anyone help with some questions i have on the common app?

what are those questions?

is it necessary to fill in the grades section under the Academics portion of the application? and if so how would you convert a level grades to a GPA scale. i know A is 4, B: 3, but im not sure how the H levels affect the calculations.

for the activities portion,
is JV/Varsity the equivalent of our school team?

I’ve a question regarding UCAS.

Under employers, what do I put? Do I just put one for SAF? I’ve been posted to three places so far, and that makes the address bit a little tricky.

arvedui: you mean we can put SAF as our employer?

hi guys,

a question about financial aid. i know there are many resources on the web on how to maximise financial aid eiligbility, but just asking if any of you singaporean guys/gals here know of any tips specific to singapore? any differences in intepretation the US and singaporean system on the meanings and scope of various terms?

I have the same qn as Trelawney. I will need to re-submit my financial details early next year. How does the finaid office determine how much aid to give yearly? What are the special factors pertaining to Singaporeans?

I am not a Singaporean but I do study in Singapore, do I count as one? :D

Hello new wave of Singapore applicants! Apply to liberal arts colleges! Good luck with applications! :D

So…does life end after you fail Prelims?

Because our JC does predicted grades 100% based on prelims. (I’m predicting C C EorU E /B - reason: not studying at all due to A level art coursework)

I have a pretty good academic record - topped my cohort in JC1. But the JC2 grade transcript will be 90% prelims.

:(

Grade prediction is based on your prelims but it doesn’t mean you will get the same score. Prelims are much harder than A-levels in terms of grading and you’ll probably get a much better predicted grade anyway.

^ thanks man for the reassurances. Went to talk to my CT today, my CT doesn’t really ‘get it’ (is super blur and always misinterpreting students) but has promised to keep it in mind.

Does anyone know of Singaporeans in the University of Richmond and the University of Notre Dame? How difficult are these to get into (average profile like grades & ECs)?

Thinking of applying to them because I want to study Finance/Economics and they have highly ranked B-schools, but Richmond seems unheard of (in SG) and Notre Dame seems tough (like a reach) just based on its standardized test range (32-34 ACT).

Would anyone happen to know the career prospects after graduating from these schools? For a finance career, preferably in Singapore. What’s the alumni connection like in SG?

Thanks!

@nadash: could you explain more about the benefits of studying in a liberal arts college vs. a traditional university in america? thanks~!
