Singaporean connection

nelle: did you try the universities in hong kong? i heard that they arent that bad and the tuition fees that they charge is roughly similar to the ones in Singapore

Has anyone taken the AP exams here? I contacted collegeboard and they gave me two sites: Fig Learning Centre and Hwa Chong. Does anyone have experience taking the test at either places? I contacted Fig already and their test price was too expansive- $230 per test, and since I’m going to be taking 5 APs… >_<

Hermann: Nope, I haven’t tried yet. I can’t speak Cantonese so that’s kind of a problem  Moreover, I have no idea what universities is good, and I have a feeling that the famous one is really hard to get into…

well, my cousin got studied there and if im not wrong, lessons are taught in english, so if you apply there, i guess that the only problem that you might encounter would be communicating with the locals

Hwa: other schools like RJC and NUSHS also offer APs, as far as I know. and APs are ridiculously expensive. do you really need to take them?

APs are ridiculously expensive, as 1234d said. At least 100 each but I can’t remember the exact sum (this comes from someone who took 7 APs) I’m not sure which schools open up the exam to students of other students, one of my classmates took AP Art History at SAS.

I just had my Pton interview omg it was so weird. I was reticent for once… T__T Not feeling in the game today.

“So what do those who don’t make it fall back on? Assuming they really don’t wanna work in Singapore, what other options do they have? I’m sure there are ppl like that who’ve failed to get past this unpredictable lottery”

I dont know…haha. Probably go to Ausie or Canada.

any one knows which place has the lowest test price for AP? cause I am taking it too.

logically speaking (considering SATs), i would think that all places charge the same price

I remember RJ charging about 70 bucks USD per paper, if I’m not wrong. Plus some 50 USD registration fee.

Well, AP is expensive, since you write essays, and they’re getting each marker to look through essays specifically, and not just through a machine. (especially Econs)

For me, since my handwritings’ atrocious, I doubt I’ll get brownie points for good handwriting, so nah, probably no APs for me.

You mean RJC have AP exams too?
I called Collegeboard, and they only give me SAS and Fig, which is super expensive.

Hi fellow singaporeans… anyone received admissions decisions yet?

Yea! USC Business Administration '09

Wait, you already got a decision from USC?

Nah, means you take the Exam at RJC - since AP exams are by Collegeboard, it’s the same paper everywhere (correct me if I’m wrong)

Yea i got it in late Jan  Just one of the early ones I guess. And none too soon either cause that’s the only place I applied to this year so it was all or nothing!

I got an offer from NTU. CNYang Scholars Programme.

Whoopee.

^ wow that’s early. Congrats! I’m not applying to any Singaporean unis because i figured i definitely will not be spending another 4 years here lol
I’m ready for a new country and new adventures (or so i hope).

I am soooo excited about it, whoopee. I know I’m not appreciating what I have :(

But anyway good choice on your part girl, no point wasting your own time and theirs when you know what you gonna be doing.

They release a version B of the exam I believe, so you don’t have cheating-across-different-timezones issues.
