I am wondering the same thing. My daughter just received her FA package and besides her Distinguised scholarship she received nothing else. No free money. Just a $5K loan offer.
That means for us, SMU will cost aroun $50K plus a year so $200K for 4 years and that is with a $100K scholarship. Just not sure if it is worth it.

despite the 30K Provost scholarship i still have to pay around 45K next year, and even though smu is a great school itās probably not worth it for me barring some more unexpected scholarship/fa offers, especially when i can go to TAMU for less than 1/2 the amount of money with a similar if not better level of education
I hear what your are saying. I feel the same way. We can afford it but not sure if itās worth it especially since my daughter is certainly going to business school for grad school after getting her BBA.
It is so expensive, and I have twins and a law school studentāyikes!! Has anyone heard on Hunt or Presidential, that would help a lot for one at least!!!
And, iām not sure about the FA packet & future scholarshipsā¦ that is if the receipt of FA packet precludes scholarships laterā¦ I would think not though. One of my twins got a fA packet & the other has not ā¦ so weāll keep fingers crossed! My daughter continued to get scholarship/ merit aid after her FA packets had come for law school. I donāt remember for undegrad, but we donāt get aid, just loansā¦
Starting to get concerned. Son was accepted but deferred from Cox and hasnāt heard anything yet. No financial package. Anyone else in same position?
Does there seem to be any correlation to being committed to SMU and getting a Presidentās interview invite?
Is anyone waiting for additional money from Talent and department scholarships to help off set the $45,000 ?

Does anybody know if you can stack the IB scholarship with the Hunt scholarship?I was accepted EA and I currently am a provost and Dedman Scholar and am curious if I can get the price down under 27,000 (where it is now) if I donāt get the presidential scholarship.
Based on the below quote from SMUās website, I believe Hunt would replace IB and provost scholarships, but would stack with Dedman Scholarship as well as any need based aid.
āThe Hunt Scholarship will replace and supersede any centrally administered merit aid, but Hunt Scholars may also be eligible for additional departmental scholarships or need-based aid for a total scholarship package valued up to the cost of tuition and fees.ā
@wildflower1101 Did you receive the Dedman College Scholars Program scholarship, or are you referring to something different? Iām waiting on a decision for the Dedman College Scholars Program.

yes @WaterBottle8 i just got a 10,000 departmental scholarship from dedman scholar program. had an interview last Wednesday and was notified on Friday that i got the scholarship.
yes @chaispice i was talking to one of the heads of SMU dedman college and she said you can still be considered for those w/ w/o dedman scholarships.
If you filled out the FAFSA, you may get more grants after the original financial aid offer was presented. That happened for a committed friend. Same happened at A&M ($6k) for another friend who makes over $200k. Except they arenāt committed to A&M.
We need to fill out the FAFSA!
After getting Provost and Discovery, my daughter was denied Dedman Scholars. Fingers crossed she will make the next round for Presidentās.
