Five have died after being ambushed by snipers in downtown Dallas.

So much anger and violence in our country these days. It’s depressing.

A good deal of downtown will be closed today while the investigation continues. Hard to imagine that.

Moderator Note: This is not about gun control. As stated in some other recent threads, there are already plenty of threads about that directly, and more to the point it is only peripherally related to this topic. All posts that mention gun control, the NRA, etc. will be deleted unless they somehow miraculously mention such things while not being about gun control.

So my first call today will be to my son, again, to be considerate, keep hands on wheel if stopped, dont move. You can best believe after this Dallas situation, and some news statations and radio hosts will declare its open season on cops, even though the Dallas chief has not linked this to the peaceful protest that happened in Dallas.

Officers will be on high alert, and adrenalin will be pumping. For those bad cops, bad tendencies will be exacerbated all because some vigilante went off the deep end. I cant process this.

D2 was contacted and told not to come to work today. She doesn’t work in the area shut down, but she does work near downtown.

What the Dallas snipers missed in their anger is that many law enforcement officers are sickened and angry about the shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana. We need to support the good cops and work to screen out those who are temperamentally unsuited, inadequately trained, or racist.

Almost couldn’t believe this when I saw it this morning - three mornings in a row? So, so awful.

And not just unrest in the streets - this seemed calculated with snipers positioned and all.

What saddens and sickens me is that somewhere , someone thought it would be a good idea to ruin the opportunity for a positive , peaceful protest by assassinating 5 police officers and placing everyone at that protest, including children, at risk.

Local news is reporting that one of the snipers was killed by the bomb squad robot.

I happened to get up about 3:30 this morning because I couldn’t sleep . . . flipped on the TV and listened to all this unfold. :confused: So depressing.

To me, the Dallas police chief was very moving.

Change the slogan to Cheesecake for Everybody for all I care, but let’s get some real action and reform - on all of it. We don’t want innocent people slaughtered at routine traffic stops, we don’t want snipers putting our cops in jeopardy, and we don’t want schoolyards of dead children.

Yes I like fancy slogans too, but slogans do not ease the very real tensions between LE and large segments of the African American community.

The comments on Twitter from BLM sympathizers is just vile. Their leaders and national leaders need to speak out to tamp down this hate against innocent officers.
