It’s 7:20am outside DC and all I see is rain.
Our local schools are closed today. It’s snowing hard and going to continue until afternoon. Thankfully I don’t really need to go anywhere.
No snow here at all VH. Not a flake.
My flight to BWI is now listed as delayed.
It’s been sleeting for an hour or so and now snowing hard.
Ok DC folks. I might have put the hex on you getting snow.
I just changed my reservation to tomorrow via Midway. That is a sure guarantee that my flights won’t get cancelled. But I just didn’t want to worry about it.
I think you made a good decision. It’s supposed to snow all day here in Central Maryland.
Am still stuck in Little Rock Arkansas. Have had 4 itinerary changes over the last 3 days. Hoping to get out of here and at least closer to home ( heading to an airport 4 hrs from home with another connection). Weather there was in the 70’s yesterday, but guess what is heading that way…
Thumper, did you get out?
I don’t think snow or no snow in DC is the sole part of delaying flights. It’s a domino effect around the country so it will probably be awful delays anyway. Supposedly it’s supposed to turn to snow later one. We’ll see, it was 50 here yesterday, I don’t think the roads are cold enough to make it the panic I’m hearing. I opened my office today and if people need to leave early they can. Honestly being from the northeast it’s now past amusement watching people freak out over snow.
I know…and I love in the northeast. But really, the potential of being stranded at BWI with a lot of upset and stranded passengers is not my idea of a good time. I’m pretty sure my flights will go today…but delayed. But really, I’m not missing much at my destination except sleeping there tonight. I’m arriving before noon tomorrow. And hopefully will not have weather worries…at all since I’m now flying through Midway.
School visits? Mybstnow, I was flown out t Little Rock to tour a program at U of the Ozarks. 4 itinerary changes and I am still stuck here. There have been 2 direct flights to my final destination that left yesterday and today. But no, they didnt book me on those. They used a different airline with multiple connections.
Those direct flights were probably full. When I rebooked this morning for tomorrow, the only flight on my airline with seats was 6 am…not my best time of the day. But all the others were sold out. Probably because lots of others changed their flights out yesterday.
We got even less than a dusting here in central CT, but the driveway is kind of icy. I think there is still a chance of some snow during the day.
Talked to S2 in DC last night who was expecting that work would be cancelled today. Usually if federal employees have a snow day, so does his office. Federal employees have a snow day.
Enjoy your trip, thumper. Leaving tomorrow probably means fewer hassles than you would’ve experienced today.
Got a text from D that JHU cancelled school today due to snow and an email from Alaska that they will refund fares paid for tickets to DC area airports with travel dated March 3-5.
Now maintenance problems. Ugh. And I gave up my seat on the 4 pm. This is ridiculous.
Yay. Fixed the maintenance issue. Deicer doesn’t belong inside the cockpit.
Good luck. Lots of flights are cancelled. Hope yours goes!!
Oh one good thing…I have coupons for free drinks. But for a 6 am flight…I don’t think so!!
This storm missed us in northern New England - which is okay! I hope everyone arrives at their destination safely and without too much trouble.
WOW! We got almost 6 inches of snow in North Dallas last night. I could tell it was coming down really fast and furious. Can hardly believe we got that kind of snow in March here. It’s a treat for us, but a hassle for anyone who needs to drive for fly.
My today flights are both now listed as delayed…again…meaning further delayed. The first flight had been rescheduled for an hour later, and is now delayed…more. The flight out of BWI at 5:30 is delayed.
To be honest, with that second delay, I would have gotten there WAYYYY after dark.
I think tomorrow morning is dandy. And hoping no issues!
