A travel ban will be in effect in NYC as of 2:30. MTA has announced that they are beginning a shut down. The last trains inbound and outbound will be at 4:00, including LIRT. Bus service has already been suspended and above ground subway service will be suspended at 4:00.
Late yesterday, after I set up the free Amazon Alexa Voice Service (it is somewhat like Siri on iPhone or Google Now) on a computer, I asked “her” what ithe weather it is in New Haven. I was told there will be the blizzard warning starting 4 am Saturday morning.
For those of you near NJ shore any word on Strathmere flooding?
I haven’t seen Strathmere yet but it’s probably bad since south end of OC and Sea Isle is pretty bad.
@fallgirl In our community forum, a neighbor is offering her fourth grader son as help to dig out anyones parking space for $10. He wants to earn money for video games. In my head I am thinking if an adult is having trouble digging out over 20 inches of snow how would this kid be able to do this. The contractors have plowing the snow all night but the roads don’t look like they have been cleaned with the continued snowfall today. They are calling for thunder snow today in NOVA.
Snowing steadily now in RI - @lookingforward, if your D hasn’t left yet, I would tell her to stay put. In another hour, 95 will be bad…and she’s heading into the worst of it. I agree that an early train makes the most sense.
Anybody north of Philly have a drone capable of sending me alcohol?
@KKmama, are you still on duty? Perhaps your client has some cooking sherry.
Central MD here.
At about 1PM I took several measurements ranging from 26" to 30".
Several more hours of snowfall are predicted.
This must be approaching a record now for this area.
@HarvestMoon1 haven’t seen anything about strathmere but this clip shows sea isle city - close enough

I’m annoyed that ds2 hasn’t checked in, though I’m sure that he’s fine.
Well…we’ve been downgraded…again…to 1-3 inches. We are so on the NW fringe of this weather. Very weird because I know my southern CT friends are getting lots of snow.
@lookingforward I live right betweem Stamford and NYC. They should not be driving right now. Visibility as you come down 95 will get worse.
22" and still falling. Client has peed 38 times in 23 hours. Must think overtime pay. Must think overtime pay. Must think overtime pay.
The strom changed the course. It’s now moving from east to west instead of south to north. It may go on longer than predicted.
Thanks iglooo…I was wondering why we got downgraded!
Thank you all. We toyed with D1 and the bf driving to New London this afternoon, getting them that much closer. But yes, now snowing through RI and into MA. Tomorrow 5 am, at least the lower parts and CT should be okay. Yes, this is crazy. Thx, all.
So sorry for what everyone is dealing with. And that coastal NJ has to struggle again. I grew up outside Phila and the NJ shore was our summer “it.”
Hope DS bunkers down in southern CT and never has a need to go out of the building. He said he would buy enough food so that he would have no need to go out in these couple of days.
OMG, KKmama! How long has your client had this peeing issue?! Has she been tested for a UTI? Goodness, that is not normal. Sending you a virtual glass of nice zin. Hang in there!
Did you mean to say that the south CT should be OK for car/bus/Amtrak travel after 5 am tomorrow?
I thought New London is much further to the east of New Haven, almost to the south/east border of CT. It may be more dangerous to drive near New Haven than New London now.
