I will be, at least until I get embarrassed for the participants and have to turn it off, which happens about half the time. I wonder how Seth Macfarlane will do as the host? I have mixed feelings about him. On the one hand, how can I not love the guy responsible for this: [Gene Kelly dancing with Stewie and Jerry Mouse - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP0kQFvj9rs) He’s such a musical theatre geek, I kind of have to at least like him. On the other hand, I hate bodily function humor, which is maybe 75 percent of his schtick.

There isn’t a single actor/actress nominated that I wouldn’t be happy to see win. I would probably be happiest to see Hugh Jackman for Best Actor - isn’t gonna happen, but I don’t know when he’ll ever get another nomination. And Daniel Day-Lewis already has two Oscars, and probably many more nominations ahead of him as well.

If Argo wins for Best Picture, I look forward to seeing Grant Heslov onstage to accept. He’s a very good character actor who made the smart move to get into writing and producing with that Clooney guy.

I like watching football games because of the competition but if football games came with endless hours of interviews with football players after each play and endless thank yous for all the people who made the players play so well, I would never watch football. That’s the oscars.

I’ll watch. We’ve seen all of the best picture nominees except two,I think. So will be interesting to see how it turns out. I like the fashions too :)

I’ll watch. This is the first year that I’ve seen all of those nominated for Best Picture. I’m guessing it’s between Silver Linings and Argo, but Amour is my dark horse. DDL for Actor and JLaw for Actress, but think Emmanuelle Riva was best. All in all, good year for movies. Will also watch for the musical performances: hopefully some Les Mis songs; Dame Shirley Bassey’s tribute to James Bond music; Adele and also, somewhat leery of Barbra Streisand’s performance. Oh yes, and the fashions…

The “top-3 awards” don’t seem to be (much) in question this year. Hathaway- best actress, Day-Lewis- best actor, and Argo- best picture. Anybody disagree?

jshain, Anne Hathaway is a sure lock, but her category is Supporting Actress. Best Actress is more up for grabs. And all the Supporting Actor nominees already have an Oscar, which will make for an interesting result. I did love Alan Arkin in Argo, but Tommy Lee Jones and Christoph Waltz are tough competition. I liked Robert diNiro and Philip Seymour Hoffman too, so I guess it’s a good thing I’m not an Academy member. :D

The tradition was always that this was my Ds and my one pizza splurge night, and we would watch the red carpet (oh the fashion!) and tell the TV things like, “Oh yes, we LOVE your gown, but we’re eating pizza!” - so yes, I will be enjoying pizza (my one splurge for the year) - and the red carpet, and the awards themselves, but it’s just not as magical without "just"aDaughter.

My favorite host(ess) to date was Ellen DeGeneres. My god she was a hoot and a half. Not sure what Seth Macfarlane will be like. We’ll see.

I’m not only watching, I’m having an Oscar Party. I’ve never done it and have always wanted to. Just a few people with good senses of humor. I got a red carpet at IParty and a bunch of silly decorations. Black top hats to put chips in, gold star confetti for the table and an Oscar Statue for the winner of the “Oscar Challenge”. I found a ballot on Pinterest and we will all put 5 dollars in the hat. The winner (person with the most right choices on the ballot) gets the total.

I’ve seen all of the best picture contenders except Life of Pi. I would have picked Lincoln for best picture but it looks like it might go to Argo (which I loved). Best actor will be Daniel Day Lewis and best actress will be Emanuelle Riva. Best supporting actress, Anne Hathaway and best supporting actor…hmm, still undecided on that one!

I don’t usually watch, but my 14-year-old daughter is very excited, because she loves the host, Seth MacFarlane. I don’t even know who that is! I feel very old. I’ll watch with D.

I will watch this year, with a little more interest than other years, because for the first time we have seen almost all of the nominated movies. Also, our local movie theater screened a marathon session of all the live action and animated shorts nominated this year. On a whim we went to see this and these films were fabulous! They ranged in length from 2 minutes to about 27 minutes each, were films from at least 4 or 5 different counties, and varied enormously in topic and genre.

This is now my new favorite style of film—shorts!

Our family has been in the movie business(one way or another) since since 1930. That being said, H and I always go to the movies on Oscar night. Best way to celebrate cinema.

Besides,we found that if we record it, there are only about 10 minutes worth watching. Sometimes only 5 minutes.
