I just saw the pic of Jane Fonda’s dress. Gotta say, she looks fabulous. The dress, however, looked like something pulled from the 1970’s end of her closet…padded shoulders, that waist treatment, and the color…very 70’s!

Im sorry but I didnt like Jane Fondas canary yellow dress at all. It looks like one of those dresses hanging sadly on the rack at the back of the store for 90% off. I see the shoulder pads. Theres also an oddly placed vertical seam running on the front of her dress. This is not good retro.

I didn’t like Jane’s dress either or Halle’s (I know I’m an outlier here.) The shoulder pads made her arms look like they were falling out of a socket.

Someone mentioned in an earlier thread Helen Hunts H&M gown. I missed it on the red carpet but saw it last night on FP. All I can say is, “*** was she thinking?”

Seth Macfarlane apparently drew a younger, more male audience than past hosts, which is what he was supposed to do. But at least one 82-year-old lady thinks he was marvelous. That’s what one of the seniors at my center said today - “Wasn’t he marvelous! Such a good singer and so handsome!” She said it was the first time in ages she’d watched the entire show. I got the impression that some of the jokes were out of her frame of reference. :)

It must be one of the toughest jobs in show business. People seem to remember hosts more fondly with the passage of time (though David Letterman will probably never fully come back from the Yma Uma thing). I used to think that Neil Patrick Harris wouldn’t be a terrific fit for the job, though I love him. Now I think that he deserves a try.
