I don’t think so. Housing is housing at smu. There’s no “better” housing.

Plus, housing for freshman is randomly assigned. You do not pick and choose where you want to live. You can only choose a roommate ahead of time.

exactly how I feel. My son is high on SMU but I told him it’s a non-starter at full price, or anything close to full price. Not when he’s been admitted to wonderful schools that are $30K - $40K less per year.

It’s direct admission to Cox business school. When you apply and choose business as your major, your application goes to Cox admissions for consideration.

Has anyone gotten anything in the mail “big red envelope” was a lot faster with kiddo #1, kiddo #2 has gotten one from Elon and one from K State, but nothing from her other schools in the mail yet.

S24 accepted EA on Dec 19, Dedman College, still waitlisted on Cox School. GPA - 3.5/4.0, top 30% of his school (private boarding school), Decent activities and essays. SAT - 1340 but did not submit.

I received the Distinguished Scholar (25k per year) and the Cox BBA Distinguished Scholar which is (7.5k for 4 years). For everyone else that received the Cox BBA Scholar on this thread, I have not seen anyone offered (7.5k) per year, only (5k) per year. I have never heard of the Distinguished BBA Scholar for (7.5k per year). Why do you think this is? How rare is it?
My son just received an email inviting him to join Honors. Does anyone have feedback on the program? I know some Honors colleges are really strong, others are just Honors in name but not really distinguishing.

Congrats on your acceptance and your merit money. Would you mind sharing your stats? My son was also accepted into Cox and just received word on his Honors College acceptance. He received the $25K per year from SMU (Distinguished Scholar) but nothing about the Cox BBA Scholars. He has received Honors accolades from other undergrad business schools so wondering if there is still a chance to receive this. Thanks!

Does SMU give any additional scholarship for University Honors / HillTop honors students ? What are the tangible benefits of either program ?
Like you mentioned, I’ve only ever heard of it being $5k/yr. Maybe they really like you haha
