Also, couldn’t hurt to call admissions since they may not have done RD yet. Maybe Cox could review in the RD pool

Thanks everyone. We are still waiting for her EDII decision to come out at another university. But, if that doesn’t pan out, we will call SMU admissions about a possible switch to Cox. Hope everyone is faring well in this admissions bloodbath! Is it May yet?

Good luck with EDII. I wouldn’t wait though to call SMU admissions if your daughter is seriously considering.

Call the University. See if they will consider admitting her into Cox now. Maybe they can do some sort of re-review process. It is really hard to get into Cox by transfer. My son is a BBA scholar in Cox, and it is a tough program.

Nothing received yet. The page denotes you will be notified regardless of invitation or not, so wondering when this will be as it also says you will be notified a month before the interview (which says is the first Friday of March

Has anyone had any success increasing their initial merit award?

We have been in contact with local advisor, but nothing additional to this point.

My son is very interested in attending, but not sure if we’ll be able to wait on the FAFSA reviews at the end of April. Too late in the game for us at that point.

we’re in the same boat. Zero chance he can attend without significant additional merit. I really have no idea how this process works but I assumed he would have been offered more than he was ($10K)

Anyone know when SMU’s ED II decisions came out last year? I know it says by March 1st on website, but hoping they have historically come a bit earlier

I wasn’t aware merit increases were a possibility. Financial aid, yes, but I assumed merit was locked in. Is that not the case?

yeah, i think merit is locked in. But who knows?

I think some people have said up above that after students make decisions and the class starts to settle out, they reallocate merit to certain kids.

Yes, there is a chance of late Merit awards. My class of 2026 DS was admitted to SMU in December of 2021 with zero merit. Then received a merit award in March 2022 although he hadn’t accepted the admissions offer yet (he ended up not attending).

As others have said, I think they wait to see who accepts/declines, then reallocate merit funds. Good luck to those holding out. :heart:

Hunt and Presidential are separate applications. Everyone is auto-considered for merit scholarships up to the Provost level.

Already received Provost and Dedmans but separately applied for Presidents and Hunt after an email prompting me to do so.
