My student said itās the best acceptance letter he received.
Awesome!! Congrats!
One questions I have - my son was admitted (he didnāt apply to Cox, doing Sports Mgmt) but the admission letter made no mention of major. Any experience on how a student knows what major they were accepted to?
For those who applied to Cox, the admit letter mentions that the Cox decisions will be rolled out early Jan.
If your admit letter does not talk about any more decisions, I think itās fair to assume they were admitted to their requested college/major in the application.
4.0/1510/various ECs, mostly clarinet/debate/volunteering for congressman
Did anyone TO receive merit $? Now wondering if that was a mistakeā¦
Yes, S25 was test optional and received the Second Century scholarship. I wonder though if it was the right decision.
Still scratching my head on how we didnāt get anything. D25 has a 4.4, 10 AP classes, tons of extracurricular, service hours and awards.
my sonās letter also made no mention of the major. Did any TO applicants receive merit aid?
You indicated on your application that you are interested in pursuing a degree in the Cox School of Business. As you are aware, students are considered for direct entry into the Cox School of Business. You will receive your Cox admission decision in early January.
This is what mine says as far as something that resembles major.
My daughterās letter made no mention of major either. Itās very strange! Our other offers specified the major. We know she has been accepted to the BFA Studio Art program because thatās a dual admit program and Meadows sent their acceptance a month ago. But she applied to double major so we are unsure if sheās accepted to both! If anyone knows how to verify major acceptance please share! Thank you!
My daughter did Studio Art/Advertising and there was no mention (and no merit $, still bitter) in our acceptance letter.
If sheās into Meadows, sheās in to SMU. They donāt require a major to be declared before admittance, so unless itās business or engineering, she will have no problem doing a double major.
I went to SMU. When I was there you did not go into college with a major declared. I know Cox offers a select group direct admittance but other than that, I believe we all officially declared our sophomore year. Engineering may be different but 95% of majors at SMU do not have to be declared upon acceptance.
Both Advertising and Studio Art are in Meadows. If sheās into Studio Art, she can declare a double major once sheās there. Most people declare during sophomore year. Only Business and Engineering offer direct admittance to a few, select students upon admittance to the university.
I went to SMU-- When I was there, only business and engineering offered direct admit (and then only a fraction of the students who eventually majored in those areas were admitted to the programs upon acceptance to SMU. Most declared their sophomore year).
Is it currently possible to apply and gain entrance to Cox after Freshman year?
The Meadows acceptance letter specifically states acceptance by the Division of Art as an Art Major.
Admittance to Meadows is step 1 of dual admit. Itās not a guarantee of acceptance to SMU. That was part 2 notified yesterday for EA. Iāve seen students accepted to Meadows and rejected by the university.
