On a related issue… rumor (okay more than a rumor!) has it that some schools in [Ten Schools Admission Organization](http://www.tenschools.org/members/) Admissions group. are violating their agreement not to “contact admitted students after March 10 to “pressure” them to enroll.” If you have been admitted to SPS and are not contacted, it is because SPS honors the agreement and forbids coaches or program heads to contact admitted students. Apparently some on FaceBook have been receiving daily messages from the directors and calls from head coaches from two ‘large well-known schools’.
** Shame on those school !(s)**
So if you are wondering why SPS has not called you, it is because it is wrong and a clear violation of the “Ten School Agreement”. So if you don’t hear from SPS, it is because they honor agreements and take them seriously. Others should also!

FYI: The Agreement is between: Choate , Deerfield , Hill, Hotchkiss , Lawrenceville, Loomis Chaffee, Andover, Exeter, St. Paul’s and Taft

**jyun: Yes and I and others saw that, and I read your posts! They are violating their agreement. They were not permitted to make those calls about football! It actually is a Big Deal. What I said is 100% right, not “def wrong”! I know it. They know it. And the Admissions people at all 10 schools know it. **

The coaches and schools have a problem. They know that. If nothing else, they lack honor and integrity. It reflects poorly on them and their entire community. I do not believe you have any problem. It’s not your job, it is theirs. Not your fault if they call, answer your calls or open emails and messages.

Does the agreement prohibit contact from parents of current student to parents of newly admitted students? Last year we received calls from parents of current students from two of the ten organization schools.

jyun: sorry never saw this post, but by now we have exchanged lots of PM’s! Like I said this is not a problem for you. The problem is for the schools that have been doing it. Just not permitted in the Ten Schools Organization.

Given all the anxiety I have heard about wait lists and deposits and decisions, maybe the following will help.

In 2008 The SPS Admissions office press release said the following:
Sounds sort of like this year doesn’t it? This year they admitted way fewer students. The economy and yields are uncertain. But the most encouraging phase then was that people on the waitlist were notified before April 10th.*

Second realize that SPS and most schools are reasonable. They should and will give you time to make a thoughtful decision. Do not let them rush you. As SPS says on their website:

**So if you are on the waitlist. Take a deep breath and ask yourself is there any reason I cannot be patient? If you are not in another school you simply have to wait. If you are in another school but not your 1st choice, then what is the downside to being patient.

With a little luck and a prayer, they may take you off the waitlist and hopefully you will know (like 2008) before you are required to make any other commitments.**

My heart and sympathies are with you. It is stressful.

Having been through the process, one of the things I greatly admired SPS for at the time was that they did NOT pressure or make a huge sales pitch to my 13 year old child. The acceptance letter from Ms. Hebra clearly states that SPS selected you and would definitely like you to attend. I think it is wrong for a school to pressure you, sell you, etc. at the age of 13, 14, 15, etc. like some kind of used car salesperson. A school that shows you what they are all about at revisits, answers your questions openly and honestly, and lets you find the right fit for you, will be a school that will care about you as a student and developing young adult for the next 2, 3 or 4 years. I would be wary of any school that does not operate with integrity.

That being said, you are welcome to reach out to coaches, dept. heads, etc. via phone or email, and they are able and happy to talk to you and answer questions as long as you initiate the contact. If you have questions about a particular sport, music program or whatever interests you, I encourage you to reach out to each school you are considering.

Lastly, as Winterset has stated, there is no rush to make a firm decision before 4/10 especially if you are waitlisted at a school you might prefer. Go on those revisits for your acceptances, but if you sincerely think SPS would be your 1st choice and you have been waitlisted, call or email SPS admissions and let them know that. You never know.

despite the violations of others, i am glad that SPS is honoring the agreement. i know that coach vandersea would love a few extra players for football. however, SPS is a school where honor counts. it is the school’s biggest selling point in my opinion. very few schools spend the time on values education that sps does.

As Winterset said, I am on the wait list. I was called by The Admissions head on the 10th telling me that I had a good shot and I was the very high up, if not THE top choice, on the wait list. I was accepted to 2 other great schools (not HADES), I am still happy to goto these schools but SPS is my top choice. I have been praying every night to get in. Here is were I stand:

Interview went AMAZINGLY well. I interviewed with Mrs. Crutchfield and she really liked me.

GREAT SSAT scores. 96% percentile, perfect 800 on vocabulary.

VERY good essays, I thought they were my best.

OK grades. (I am very unhappy at my current school.)

I believe I was kept out of a regular acceptance by my grades, but my scores make up for it. I really enjoyed my tour and I think I would really enjoy the school and be able to preform at my best in that setting. I electronically accepted my position on the wait list through the website, AND I sent a letter stressing my desire for SPS to let me in as it is my top choice. Any thoughts? What else can I do? Do you think I have a chance?

Hi y’all experts in the BS app process! I have created a new thread “Prep for Prep.” I would appreciate if you can post your insights and expert advice on the “Prep for Prep” thread. Thank you.

That’s not confirmed yet, HopefulAtHill. I’m doing everything I can! But as soon as I know it’s 100% not possible, I will (painfully) take myself off the waitlist. I certainly don’t want to take someone else’s spot.
