St. Paul's School Concord NH

Ha ok Chicky, well that clears the problem up. Laxislife, may I ask you where you are from?

Hahaha yesss i do love it, it’s really an amazing place
the academics aren’t too hard to keep up with…so far…
i’m a third former, so it’ll probably be different for you as you are coming in as a fifth fomer. fifth form has a really big paper that’s assigned in the winter and due in the spring…just keep on top of that one when you get here. I’m pretty sure you do have to take five classes, i don’t think you could get away with less because of graduation requirements. you’ll also have to take a language. Also, I wouldn’t exactly sign up for all advanced classes. advanced classes at sps are alottt different from other schools…may i ask if you go to public or private? / where?
The workload isn’t impossible, it’s just a little hard to manage at first because you are just getting into the swing of things.
I’m a third former, and yes you will definitely be seeing me next year hahaha

Well I’m glad to hear that  I go to a public school in westchester NY (supposedly on of the best counties for public school education). In terms of education my school can be hard if one chooses to take hard classes. I can’t imagine how much different advanced classes at SPS are compared to AP classes in my school. They are college level classes after all. Unless your referring to the style of teaching (i’ve taken classes that are taught “college style” where you have a few large projects, no checked HW, alot of reading, etc… On that note I think I will take normal calculus but keep Advanced physics/Bio (
I’ve always been strangely good with the sciences). I’ll also tag on Latin, but that makes a total of 6 classes, how many can you possibly take? PLus I am a junior and really need to do well if I have any hope of getting into the schools I want.

With spring (feels like summer) weather hitting SPS, here are a number of photos from last weekend on the admissions Facebook page: https://www.sps.edu/podium/tools/SlideShow.aspx?a=67815

Revisiting was great. DD has made it official – she’ll head to Concord in September. : ) Thanks to all for advice and information! I’ll keep coming back for more, I’m sure.

Is anybody here a member of the SPS lacrosse team? BTW nice to see some lax bros on campus :D

seriously I need to get some cool glasses. haha.

sps lax lost to MX today just FYI :p

I can’t wait to play for coach Colbert. I know hes going to turn SPS into a lax power house and I am going to do everything within my power to help him/the team. Middlesex appears to be a very good team and the loss was by no means a miserable one. I wish they had some game film that I could watch :(

yeah MX is the ISL lax powerhouse
graduated their
best player last year however

We shall see.

Current parent here regarding courses for Laxislife. Because you are entering in fifth form and have more choices than the usual entering student, you should talk with someone at SPS about your choices. What you mention is demanding and remember that you will also be getting used to new school and people. You also need to take a language for at least a year. If you are continuing whatever language you have been taking, which most people would, do not skip a year. If you want to start a new language, you could do it either year.

Went to chapel this morning. The most amusing was an art teacher who led everyone first in a Wave, then added vowels, then had everyone produce a rain storm and thunder with hand motions and clapping/stamping. Entertaining for all especially on a rainy dreary day!

Our organist, Colin Lynch just won 1st place at the National Organ Playing Competition in Fort Wayne Indiana! He was noted as “one of the finest young organists of his generation in the United States." Great job Colin! https://www.sps.edu/podium/default.aspx?t=6183

Wow thats really amazing. Thanks Alevelon for the advice. I decided a little while ago that I would consult someone at SPS. I was thinking about starting latin as well, but also wish to take at least two sciences. How many courses can you possibly take per term at SPS?

I think it is six, but it’s not advised, especially for your first term.

Hmmm… So I think I’ll start latin the year after next and take Advanced Physics, Advanced Calculus, Hum V, Advanced studies in
Chemistry, and Intro to Latin? Also the more I think about it, the more I realize that a 5-8 loss to MX is pretty good (can’t wait to play for Colbert AHHH! :D).

laxislife - I believe you need to take an art course - at least for 1 term.

BTW - Colbert is a great guy - all the students like him.

Yeah I met him at the Tri-State Peddie camp. He really is a great coach and person. Also I think I might add intro to photo onto that list, but other than that does the schedule sound ok to you guys(this is mostly directed at any current students)?

@laxislife1265 your schedule is a little ambitious, and with the amount of advanced classes that you want to take, they will probably only let you take 5 classes. Also because it is your first year at SPS and that your 5th form year is really important for college, your advisor will want to make sure that you can actually handle the full workload. But if you go through with that schedule next year it will be a lot of work.

So maybe I will knock off Advanced Studies in Chem and add some art classes. Also SPS lax beat Roxbury Latin 8-7 in double OT :D
