St. Paul's School Concord NH

hi i’m going to be a new student @ SPS in the fall
and i’m kind of nervous about fitting in
does everyone @ SPS have a facebook…i don’t have one is that wierd?

No not at all, but you will probably make one on your first day haha.

I did not have a facebook prior to SPS either.

Winterset: what school r u attendin??

Answered your PM. I am not a student. I am an Alum of SPS and a parent of a student. But I am involved and love SPS. A truly magical place.

ohh yes!! I forgot…

Are you allowed to hang things from the ceiling in your dorm room?

Probably not, generally its a fire hazzard.

What did you have in mind?

yeah i was thinking about hanging stuff from the ceiling too but my parents didn’t think they would let me…can I hang a bulletin board though? (on the wall not the ceiling) or do they not let you put holes in the wall?

Bulletin Boards are no problem, just stay away from hanging any kind of tapestry.

Get some of those “Command Removable Adhesive Hooks” made by Scotch. You can find them almost anywhere (hardware, WalMart, Target etc). They come in different sizes and strengths. They are easy to remove at year-end. The bookstore sells some, but maybe not the right ones for you.

We got these star lamps. I was pretty sure you can’t actually use them as lamps due to a fire hazard but they look nice w.o a lightbulb and I’d like to hang them up as decoration.

Architect’s renderings of the new math/science building planned for construction:
[St. Paul’s School New Math & Science Facility, Concord by Kallmann McKinnell & Wood Architects](http://www.kmwarch.com/project.aspx?cat=1&id=94)

when are they going to build it?

Quoting from my own earlier posting (#1636 above) “The school board’s policy is to wait until all funding is in place before beginning construction” on this 85,000 st ft combined Math/Science Center.

Having said that, as you will see in that posting: planning approval was sought last week, one building was moved this summer, utility lines are being moved, Durnbarton Road needs to be moved, SPS “has already secured the only needed zoning ordinance” and about half the $ has been raised. Construction is estimated to take about 18-months. Best case is for ground breaking next spring.

That sounds amazing! Yeah a lot of my friends here don’t understand y i am going to sps because apparently the campus isn’t great but i think it’s beautiful and with this building it’s just going to get better!

Dear gallaghergirl,
The campus is beautiful! The school is awesome!..Get ready for the best experience of your life!

djf, are you a student? you seem to post the same video clip

My boy and I sure appreciate DJF’s posts though. A mystical magical place.

a. Do new 3rd formers get to school before everyone else?
b. If so, how many days are they alone on campus before everyone else gets there?
c. If they are alone on campus for a few days, what are they doing? Icebreakers? Classes?

goldilon, faculty have started the school year. Here is when students arrive:

Sixth Formers, Prefects, and returning varsity athletes arrive 9/8/2009,
New students (in any form) arrive 9/9/2009
All other students arrive 9/11/2009

Your first few days will include several different orientations, social events, some SPS traditions, and for some, athletic and musical/dance tryouts. New students have very brief block classes (a few minutes to meet each teacher/class) on Friday and then the whole school has longer block classes on Saturday, which is how each term starts at SPS. On Monday, 9/14, the regular schedule of classes and activities begins.
