St. Paul's School Concord NH

If you have a double, triple or quad, I would advise you show up as early on Wednesday as you can. Within the room it is generally first come first served. So if it matters to you, get there quickly and ‘stake claim’ to the desk and bed you want.

Re: winterset’s post above, what he says is true but flexibility would go along way toward a pleasant roommate experience. If you need to bunk beds for space reasons, be willing to switch off half way through the school year.

Another caveat: The phone and internet jacks in the room are specific to each student’s phone extension - each student has an assigned phone/internet jack. That will most likely limit furniture placement as you’ll want your desk somewhat nearby. It could be handy to have a long phone cord and ethernet cable. :)

Agreed Creative. In fact sometimes it just works out well. For 2 years, my son had roommates who wanted bunk beds. In each case one of them wanted the top and the other the bottom. So never a conflict. Hopefully, you and your roommate(s) will find it as easy. And whatever the case, it is only 9 months anyway.

You may also want to bring a few simple cleaning supplies (or borrow them from the dorm supplies). Our experience is that drawers and windows can use some touchups. The school has the rooms cleaned, but somehow there is room for a bit of extra care. So a sponge, paper towels and windex can be nice (or maybe it’s just my wife).

Has everyone started organizing for packing? One student PMed me about shipping boxes. And yes that works.

Does anyone have any information on the Latin test for the Classical Honours program? Is it just first year Latin, Roman history and culture or some combination of the two? Is it similar to the National Latin Exam?

A new link for everyone. Here are a series of aerial photos of the SPS campus, athletic fields and the crew course on Turkey Pond. If you left click any photo it will enlarge. FAR better than Google Earth (okay so you can’t rotate them, but still nice). You can pick out your dorm, the ponds or whatever you want. http://mistoverfm.org/sps/aerials/</a> Hope you enjoy this.

Thanks for the link, Winterset!

Does anybody know why we don’t have our schedules yet? Last year I feel as though we had them at least a week before school started.

I’m planning on applying as a repeating sophomore for the 10-11 school year. I was just wondering if a lot of people who repeat have equal acceptance rate as a non-repeating sophomore?? and also, hows the academic side of st. paul’s???

Academics at St. Paul’s are top notch, one of the best in the country. The acceptance rate for repeating tenth graders is the same as new tenth graders as they do not distinguish between the too, however still low overall.

It seems like they’re just waiting until we get to school to give us our schedules, maybe they just don’t want to have to deal with students/parents calling in to the school and complaining about the classes they were put in and whatnot.

I really want to know my classes!

Shedules are in mailboxes at SPS.

I checked this morning and got so excited.

On Millville, under schedules it said 09/10 so I thought they were posted only to find out it there was nothing there, “schedules not yet posted.” Previous to today it had said 08/09.

I asked the seniors, and they insist they have always had their schedules prior to going to school.

Weird.

Lucky hockeykid! I don’t get back until Friday, so i’m stuck waiting. The only thing I know for sure about my schedule is what chem class i’m in.

No, I was excited because I thought they were posted online. I don’t get there till friday either. Guess I’ll have to wait.

Crosses fingers for greenleaf

***? No Varsity teams for you two>?

Schedules in the past were on line. Not sure why it’s different this year. But I am just back from dropping off my son at SPS and they ARE in the mailboxes. I ran into Bob Rettew (Vice Rector) and asked him. He was the one that said they were in the student’s mailboxes.

Campus looks great, weather was spectacular. They built a new bridge on the main road by Kitt. Today the road was closed with huge machines and dump trucks everywhere, but by 5pm they were gone and top soil was in place and raked. Looks like they are replacing bricks next. Ponds beautiful, stream rushing. So Idyllic!

Saw lots of faculty, Rector & Mrs. Matthews (he was my Latin teacher), kids screaming running and hugging friends they missed. Many apparently joyful reunions. Seems like few lost and confused new students were there (athletes?). Did the normal visits to Staples, CVS, grocery store, S&W Sports and Bed Bath & Beyond. Ran into parents and students everywhere. I never realized Prefects can have refrigerators. Nice perk for the job. Prefects had training tonight and should be ready for the new students in the morning.

Hope others will report on their observations, especially the parents of the new students (presumably the students will be too busy).

haha Sarum no varsity sports for me! Club Soccer B team all the way, aka I have no athletic talent whatsoever :)

Sarum, not many fourth formers are on varsity teams. Even for older students, the majority do not play on a fall varsity team.

The hogwarts dinner was the most amazing thing ever. No joke. I kept the wand.

My little one wandered down a dirt road with towel in hand, headed towards the Lower Pond for a dorm-wide dip. I spun the car around and headed towards Logan.
