Stanford 2014 SCEAers

@diglett
i love hillary :)

i start school at 6:50 and end at 2:15.
8 periods plus lunch

We start at 8. Not too late, not too early, but during swim season, there are morning practices that begin at 5:30. Yick.

We also operate on a block schedule, so on two days of the week, we have 80 minute class periods, with some of the normal class schedule on Wednesday and some on Thursday. AP chem is a double period at our school, so we have it five days a week for 2 hours a day. Double yick.

Welcome MusicMan and nice to see you around again, Prussia.

We have eight classes, four each day, starting at 8:10 and ending at 3:00. I absolutely LOVE the alternating schedule; it ensures that I always have plenty of time for homework. Plus, it seems like you wouldn’t be able to get anything done in a 45-minute period.

Of course, everything changes seasonally and by year. During water polo and swim season, I have to get up at 5:30 for morning practice. And now that I’m a senior, I have two free periods, so I get to leave at 1:30 every day. I’m content with my schedule. :)

@Starmie, do colleges care if you do early release/late start? I only took one period off incase it is kind of a no-no

i mean i dont expect it to be a deal breaker or anything but just incase :P

Its kind of weird to think that our applications have already been read, talked about, brought before a committee (lol assuming we are all considered serious contenders), and our fates decided

I mean its not that strange to think of the fact that the email is waiting to be sent as we speak (post?) because we are used to that from the SAT/waiting in line for midnight releases, ect… but idk i think its kind of strange that the human side of the application process is past tense even though we speculate as though it has yet to happen. That Holly Stebing evaluated me…

Well, the standard schedule at my school is 7 classes and a study hall for the first three years, then 6 classes and 2 free periods as a senior. I think study hall is a waste of time, so I took an extra class freshman and sophomore year, then a free period last year. Going into senior year, I already had extra credits, plus I had taken most of our highest-level classes. So I actually have four AP classes and two teacher assistants. I know it sounds lame, but that is seriously the most challenging schedule I could manage; we have no more AP classes and no German 4. I suppose I’m somewhat lucky, since I get a fairly easy year and my counselor still marked “most rigorous” course selection, but I think I earned it with my ridiculously difficult junior year schedule (the 4 hardest APs in my school plus the 3 most time-consuming electives).

Nitro, have you actually met Holly? She was the officer who did our presentation, as well as the one who I had to deal with due to my Native background, and she seems very nice. Also, one of the prettiest girls I have ever met in my entire life, hands down. Sorry if that’s a weird thing to say, but it stood out to me. :P

@NitroHawk

I know, it’s so strange/annoying that for 90% of us it’s all over anyway…
I just want to know so badly.
It’s even more frustrating when you have 50-50 chances, I could easily get in or get rejected. I can’t convince myself either way XD (At first I accepted rejection, but the closer I get them more people keep telling me that if I get rejected they don’t know who can get in etc etc, so they’ve inflated my ego…)

Sigh…

I seriously hope that all of you get in though, you are all wonderful. :)

@Starmie
I spoke to Holly too! She was very nice! i haven’t actually seen her so I’ll have to take your word for it haha.

It’s getting ridiculous now. I’m going crazy and there are still almost 12 days to go.

Wow a lot of people seem nervous. Good luck to all and remember, if you’ve tried your best, then you should have nothing to regret, life moves on, of course an acceptance would be amazing…but getting super down if your decision is undesirable does nobody any good. (Although I say this I’ll probably be bawling if I get a rejection lol)

PS: Those elementary school kids are super smart!

@Starmie, no i havnt had the pleasure :****(

I think it was Mollie Weinstein Gould who talked to the summer EPGY kids, so that would be the only rep i’ve met with.

Can we please not talk about rejection in this thread? I hope all of us get in…

Mfederman, did you actually talk to her on the phone? Because I just received the email with the form; she didn’t call or anything. Then again, I’m only a quarter, and I’m not enrolled…

Is it weird if I know how many hours there are until we get our decisions?

you’re right Sarb, I’m sorry

@sg12: not at all :P

11 days and X Hours to go… XD

More like ~281 hours!

Wow, I need to catch up.

Well, first off I have a regular period schedule with 9 periods per day from 8:00 to 3:40. I probably have about 8 free periods a week total amongst all of my less-than-relaxing senior courses.

The only Stanford Admissions Official I’ve met is Matt Ybarra. Sorry for publicizing your name Mr. Ybarra if you find this–At least I didn’t friend request you on Facebook.

Do we get email decisions prior to our letters and do we only get them if we are R*******?

WHAT ON EARTH DO THESE ELUSIVE ACCEPTANCE LETTERS LOOK LIKE FOR STANFORD?

@sg12: it sounds so near when you say it like that :****(
