Stanford 2014 SCEAers

I’ve had a bunch of dreams of about Stanford. I almost cried when I was dream-rejected :frowning:

I wish I could hibernate…

Sorry for being depressing guys. This is just the biggest day of my life. I know you guys understand :D

@sg12

I have bad dreams as well. I dreamt that I was accepted, but then I woke up. (feeling really taken advantage of)

Hit me up next week and we’ll talk about it. That is, if I’m still welcome here. I admit I feel awfully shunted from that SCEA decisions thing. But I’ll get over it. I don’t think there was any harm meant.

@applican: we dont like your kind…

you are always welcome!!

haha i know how you feel though, for some reason the anonymity of these forums makes everything all the more personal because its easy to say no [YOUR NAME HERE], you are wrong, and even though the accuser feels like they are talking to a mail box with a name on it, the accused feels like they are getting a face full of hate.

all it is is just a simple difference of opinion as to the fate of the SECA Decisions thread (nothing to do with your decision, or the fact that your decision should/shouldn’t be represented in the final SECA pool, what we will probably do is just add your and sex’s ACCEPTED posts to the later SECA thread)… like you said no harm ment

you are always welcome here, and congrats on the acceptance, you are our emissary of hope…

Applicannot, I can’t speak for everyone, but I know that, at least on my part, the insistence on a division between QB and REA is primarily a product of Prussia’s long-claimed right to start the thread, not to an actual difference between the applicant pools. QuestBridge applicants are just as qualified as regular ones, and probably more talented, considering what they’ve had to overcome. I didn’t intend to apply that your accomplishment is at all lessened. We just really want a new thread. :P

here is some food for thought as far as QB admissions goes:

[2005-08 National College Match Program Results - Acceptance Rates](http://www.questbridge.org/cmp/chances.html)

“Stanford University 12.0% (2,426/20,195)”

i thought it would have been much higher…

Nitro, the figure you posted is the overall acceptance rate for 2005/2006. The most recent QuestBridge data available is from 2008: 4889 applicants, 24 acceptances. That’s an admission rate of roughly 0.5%.

^^

The acceptance rate is for GENERAL… not just QB

oh hahaha, fail.

my bad as always i suppose

is that admission to Stanford through questbridge? or admission to questbridge itself?

Admission to Stanford through QuestBridge.

haha ouch, puts our schools QBer rejection in perspective though

I just signed up for an off-season swim practice program! Which is fantastic, because it, coupled with my wildly ambitious group project in English, means I will be busy almost every moment of every day for the next week, leaving no time to stress about Stanford. At least, that’s the idea.

Awww starmie you make me want to start swim again. Just think of it. A diglett swimming…

“f I were any happier that I am not doing Calculus BC anymore, I might vomit a rainbow.”

That’s such an awesome line.

Haha. I wish I could swim properly. All I do is flail about gasping wildly for a few minutes, trying desperately not to look down because I have a weird phobia of looking into deep water.

well diglett… I hope you evolve into Dugtrio soon :P

If you guys want QB numbers, I can give them to you. We don’t have exact numbers for the past few years, but last year Stanford Matched 14 finalists and this year they Matched 26. Each year about 1500 students rank Stanford because it is a non-binding, totally awesome school. That’s .9% and 1.7% respectively. HOWEVER, overall Match rate is about 10%, so some schools have a much higher acceptance rate. The magic of QuestBridge is really in regular decision. Over 40% of the finalists will receive admission to a QuestBridge partner school during regular decision, and that number includes a significantly higher acceptance rate of about 25% for Stanford (that’s what I was told, at least). Between the Match and regular decision, QuestBridge has a 60% acceptance rate at the 27 partner schools.

P.S. Nitro Hawk, you might appreciate that my derby name will be Roll de’Mort with a tagline of “she who must not be maimed.” But I can’t think of a good number (it can be any number, including fractions and decimals, positives, and negatives). For example, Leslie B. Gangsta is AK47.

Sounds cool, Starmie. My problem is that even when I’m stressed and busy out of my mind, I just think about Stanford when I should be doing other things. Heh, oh well.

Swimming -is- rather distracting, which is pretty nice… I was thinking about not going to practice the day of decisions, but if I go directly home I’ll just be obsessed for three hours, so I figure I’ll distract myself with exhaustion.

Anyone else feel like the days are starting to pass more quickly now?

I want to go swimming, but sure not in winter!

Speaking of which, how cold is it where you guys live right now?
Right now its 53.1 °F, which is beyond freezing for FL weather. It usually hardly gets past 70!! I’m so cold!! Auggh!!
I hope I get to see snow in North Carolina, though, since I never have. We’re leaving in an hour or two.

Lucky you… it’s 25°F (which is literally beyond freezing lol). have fun in NC… at least you’ll be distracted for a while!
