Haha it’s 25 here too. Except Celsius, not F.

ha it’s 0 celcius here… i wish it was 25 :(

I’m whining about the 25. I want it to be hotter. :p

See this is why I need to go to Stanford… I’m sick of the cold… I was made for the warmth.

I hope your Why Stanford was longer than that. :p

hahaha. nope! I wrote: “I’m coo-brr-oold. plee-brr-ase saveee meee… stanford is the only refuge for a cold girl like m—brrr—eeee.”

haha. No… actually I thought my why stanford was pretty original.

Lol! Stanford deserves the originality, haha.

I have yet to write mine. Oh well.

get on it!! When I wrote mine I stated the obvious things then did a bit of a twist and made it very specific to me, my situation, and my dreams.

Whoaness we’re in the same boat. I wrote about how my high school is on Stanford Avenue [no really it is] and that it’s a sign from the heavens above that I should go there, but that was only about a sentence or two on it. Then I wrote about my dreams and all that other stuff.

haha nice! I should do that for my other college essays (crossing my fingers that I won’t have to write any after dec. 15th). The streets near my house are named after colleges(Dartmouth, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Amherst). nice idea.

Hahhahah you’re very welcome! I’m debating whether I want to apply to any other schools or not because my parents are like blehblehbleh you’ve already spent so much on applications D;

Me too, Whoaness! (On both accounts)

Unfortunately, unlike Florida, Ohio is not exactly famous for it’s great weather… sadly, it’s about 30F here.

My “Why Stanford essay” also was more specific to me, my dreams, and my situation, with about four or so lines thrown in about Stanford itself. I was kind nervous that I didn’t talk about Stanford enough, but I sure hope that they value an honest and personal essay.

That’s so awesome! The street names around my school and house are so boring in comparison.

Weezer because of your name, I’m going to listen to the blue album right now <3
hahaha
It’s 65F in my house. Pretty content with that considering it’s California.

Aah! I’m so jealous. California sounds pretty good right now.

Blue album forever! <3

haha, would it be weird to wear ugg boots in california then? lol

hmm…for my “why stanford essay” i talked about an experience that i had when i visited and how i want to experience it again. i think my response was risky but once i saw the prompt for the first time, it was the first thing that popped into my head. i just went ahead and did what felt right and went to writing!! i think that as long as you are passionate and express that passion in your writing, you’re fine. you definitely don’t want to be second guessing with these types of things. i really hope they liked it!

That’s what they seem to emphasize, squeaky clean. I guess all anyone can hope for is that his/her passion shows through.

Personally, I feel like my best essays are the ones where I have an idea in mind, run with it and just get out a draft with most of the language I want in it. There’s necessary refining to do and such, but the smoothest essays of mine (or so I think) are the ones that are natural to write.

The streets around where i live/my school are named after guns/gun accessories (musket, powderhorn ect…)

not quite sure what that is supposed to mean about my future/dreams

LOL
thats really funny.

my street is named after a cigarette company…

NJDS: cigarette company lol…El Dorado?

My streets are named after flowers and bible allusions (Bluebell, Bellflower, Edenbrook, etc.) so I’m not sure what that means about my future/dreams either lol. Wow it’s already the fourth, judgment day is coming up fast…lol nah thinking about it that way isn’t healthy. So lets see…hmm…What symbol in any piece of literature that you have read best describes you and most fully encompasses who you are as a person? I know it’s a weird question but I’m curious.

I am deeply jealous of everyone named stan. I would totally have worked that into my Why Stanford essay.

Dramatic ending for my essay-- Omaha, my hometown, means going against the wind. I mention this translation, not to say I move against the wind of freedom, but to say that I choose to move towards it. Stanford will be a means to my beginning, a powerful gale ushering me into the rest of my life.
