I am an international student currently applying for Fall 2017 admission at the following universities:
- San Jose State University
- San Diego State University
- Penn State University
- University of Minnesota
My intended major would be Statistics (with a focus in Actuarial Science) or an equivalent (e.g. Finance Risk Management & Insurance in UMN CSOM)
Which one of these schools would be best for the major I intend to pursue? (In terms of ranking and program)
One of the main points I have seen brought up about Penn State is that it has the widest alumni network and thus finding employment after graduation would be relatively easier. Does this apply to international students too or would it not be too relevant in helping me find employment in the US after graduation? In addition, is the slightly higher overall ranking and alumni network an important enough factor that I should choose PSU over UMN if I get accepted to both despite the ~7k difference in costs?
