I got in today!!! SAT: 1340. GPA:3.6.
But there’s a catch. They said I got in in the email, but not in the portal. Do you guys think it’s a mistake? I wouldn’t be surprised because I never thought I would get in.

@achen2020 Thanks! I applied on January 1st. I had like 3 Cs on my transcript, and a lot of Bs junior year if that gives anyone hope lol .

And got the decision in a week.

Why are you knocking yourself? Stony Brook has thousands of applications from everywhere. They don’t need to admit you simply for the tuition. You’re an “undecided” major. Once you are in and if you decide on a major, that Department still has to accept you. So they are giving you a shot to see where you take your education and you’ll have to settle on a major in a Department that accepts you.
Stony Brook decides admission by Department. If your application indicated that you wanted some tough Engineering course, and your grades didn’t meet the cut, you wouldn’t have been accepted.

Visited SBU last week. The dorm is a bit disappointing, small trio room. Admission officer stated that OOS students have a greater chance for double rooms, but no single. Food in cafeteria is overpricing. Everything else looks great! I think DD will enjoy the campus life there.
SBU has admitted student day on 4/04 and 4/05 (Engineer major). Plan for it!
Applied in Oct. and still haven’t received anything… wonder how SBU evaluates its applications.

I applied to Stony on Dec 31, and haven’t heard back yet. However, when I logged onto my NYS HESC account, I see Stony Brook listed along with the “TAP Award.” Does this mean I’ve been accepted?
No, the TAP award school is based on what you inputted as your first choice. It can always be changed, depending upon the school you commit to.

Even longer here. I checked the portal from last year and this is the week where many of the acceptances were posted…I think after this week many will be wait listed or rejected.
