Re #182 - My family and I are card-carrying members of the other 95 percent. Our big splurge this past year was buying a car with less than 100,000 miles on it.

@rockvillemom , you can get those NYDJ jeans at many discount stores, such as Nordstrom Rack, TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc, You don’t need to pay full retail,

@harvestmoon, we have one of those theaters in Burlington, MA. It doesn’t cost any more than the other kind. No beer or wine at ours, though. Just reclining, pre-assigned, comfortable seats.

We also splurged on a new truck that starts when you turn the key. It is our first real new vehicle ever. So far the peace of mind is worth it, but it’s too soon to tell overall.

Our reserved seat theater is no more expensive. You just buy on Fandango but the tickets are normal price.

@Massmomm but the best theater in that area is at Chestnut Hill. The Superlux theater there has reclining seats but also a full menu from Davios served by waitstaff. A great splurge.

Oh, yeah, and moving to Kauai. Kind of a mega-life-splurge.

Fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, freshly roasted coffee, plenty of wine and love.

Business class flying, a good hairbrush and makeup brushes, a real cashmere sweater.

And the best splurge was buying two Maine coon cats from a breeder. I love them and their temperament and big size. They’re squeezably soft and bring us a lot of joy.

I have 2 Birmans - they look similar to the Maine coon but smaller. Worth every penny!

That TempurPedic mattress that H insisted on getting 11+ years ago. (I thought it was too expensive at the time, but I love it even more than H does. Still great after all these years. Definitely worth the $.)

My bengal cat. I brown bagged lunch for a year to save up for the princess and she loves D1 more than me :/.

Love, love, love my LLBean slippers with the real shearling lining. Had been wanting them for years and finally got them last Christmas. Cost more than what I usually spend for shoes, but they should last for years and years.

@MomCat2 I got some as a gift for Christmas. I love them!!

Well… I wear mine pretty much every minute I am home. I get a couple years out of a pair, then get new ones. I wait for a “free shipping” coupon, though. I think I get my money’s worth from them!

A housecleaner
My daughter’s college education - led to her dream job at Disney Studio
A great mattress - spend at least a third of my life on it
My wonderful dogs!
ski vacations with my family - memories to last a lifetime [=

I got a pair of the LL Bean shearling slippers when I was dealing with horrible foot cramps from my chemo. I swear my medical insurance should have paid for them, they were that therapeutic (and they enabled me to go off some anti-cramping meds).

Things I think are worth it- H might disagree on some
German car
business class seats( as My hip issues have made economy travel on long hauls unbearable)
Guide when we traveled in China, we normally are very self sufficient but was definitely worth the cost
MD.'s of choice
Horse for D
Well fitted bras
Chicken from a higher end grocery store
Home with a view of ocean
Housekeeper
Regular massages
Hair coloring
Cotton textiles- I hate synthetic sheets, linens
Fresh flowers
Charter sailboat trips around the world
