Stuff worth SPLURGING for

Turning up the heat in the winter from 68 to 73. Made a huge difference because I am always cold.

Just at this very moment, I think I should’ve splurged on a new furnace. It’s 14 degrees outside and ours isn’t producing any heat. Brrr

Love the LL Bean wicked slippers. They are also guaranteed, if you wear them out, they will replace them.

I never feel right about asking, as I literally wear them over 40 hours/week.

When my dad was in a wheelchair temporarily, my parents needed a ramp to replace the (hand-rail-less wooden) stairs to the front porch.

Both mom and dad were dead set on renting the ramp, because that would be cheaper than buying unless he needed it more than six months. I convinced them to buy. That was six years ago, and we all love the ramp more every time we use it.

The two closest movie theaters (Marcus and IPic) to me are reserve seats only. Marcus is your normal megaplex while IPic is a small fancy theater but it is not that much more expensive and it includes popcorn.

Heated floors!

Intparent, LLBean shipping is always free these days. They went back to that policy a few years ago.

@lia_b, we love our little Bengal princess too. She’s not particularly social, but she will sleep, with my boys, or under their covers if they are not home, for hours. She has quite a personality.

My steam shower.

leopard print Ugg slippers

Good undies. Won’t mention the name since they are already all my ad sidebars.

Sitting here, listening to my talented son play the piano…Money for the piano and his lessons when he was younger…I don’t know if I’d call it a splurge, but it was definitely money well spent. I love listening to him play! Going to miss him AND his music when he goes back to school in a week (but that’s for a different thread! LOL!)

Lol. Hanro and Calidora are worth the big bucks paid for them.

H bought me a Burberry wool coat a few years ago. I always feel like a million dollars when I wear it.

Agree about the Burberry coat, @FallGirl. I bought one on sale in NYC in 1987 and it was still pricy. I’m still wearing it though!

Two years ago we finally splurged and hired a well regarded horticulturalist to design and plant our front garden. This is after 30 years of planting based on arbitrary visits to the garden center. 30 years of dead plants, eapense and ugliness. Now we have a drought tolerant gorgeous garden that involves very little water or upkeep. And I get more pleasure from it than I could ever imagine. That expense pays me back daily. It was so worth it.

Re: the Burberry coat, dare I ask the price? I’ll be in NYC next week. They might be on sale right?

I don’t know the exact price, I know he bought it at the outlet. FWIW I also saw a gorgeous Burberry jacket selling for around $300 at Nordstrom Rack. i would have bought it, but it wasn’t in my size.

We put a lovely screen porch at the back of our second (eventually only) home this fall. No more mosquitos keeping me inside! I saved for years for this. I hope I die there (many years from now.)
