My son got accepted to high school orchestra for violin last Thursday fyi
My son was accepted to Tanglewood last week, and the email said that financial aid award information would be released today. However, I haven’t received any email yet. Does anyone know if this means we won’t receive any financial aid?
We also haven’t heard back from them regarding the scholarship. Someone in the Tanglewood forum also said they haven’t heard back at all.
Thank you for your reply. This is our first year applying to Tanglewood, so I wasn’t sure whether it was just us or not. It’s a bit of a relief to hear that some other parents haven’t received it yet either.
I was worried to - I reached out to administration and this was the reply:
“Thank you for following up! I’m happy to reassure you that you’ve missed nothing in regards to scholarship notifications. There’s been a small delay in our system, and we are doing our best to generate/distribute award letters as with as much haste as we can- stay tuned!”
I have heard from several others that scholarship emails are being sent out by BUTI.
We recieved a Brevard notification today.
Anyone know if Brevard usually has movement on the waitlist?
For Kinhaven senior, does anyone know the deposit due and full balance due date approximately? Thanks!
Does anyone know how common it is for a woodwind waitlist for BUTI Young Orchestra program to move up?
S24 was in the waitlist and was eventually accepted to the intensive for his instrument but not the ensemble, they told us they do go to the waitlist but not often
I’m still waiting for Heifetz Senior Cello… I haven’t gotten any updates after the first round email. It’s already past their March 13th deadline… what happened?
Did you get in?
Suggest you reach out to them, the Heifetz admissions team is very responsive. My son turned down a spot at Heifetz Senior, so hopefully there are still spots open.
Yes I am wondering the same thing as my daughter was waitlisted for the high school institute for cello. She is very disappointed and is hoping to attend.
Thoughts about Interlochen for a violist who has just graduated from HS and pursuing music performance in college? This is the only long camp that’s in reach financially due to good scholarships, and the alternative is working this summer. Just want a good growth experience, unlike last summer’s music study program at a different spot, and worry about being at the top of the age range.
At 17/18 she will definitely be one of the older students at Interlochen. My son went for the summer before his junior year which was the more typical age.
There are kids from all backgrounds so I would think she would find peers. And of course she will have plenty of structured music activities. You can pull up some videos online to see the level for orchestra and chamber groups to make sure she would feel adequately challenged.
My son loved his summer there. One nice aspect was the incorporation of dance, theater and art. So there were events to attend from the different disciplines.
He did say that the counselors were a little heavy on rules and in his mind treating the students as if they were younger than their ages. But I think that was only for the first few days as everyone settled in.
If you have a great scholarship so it is not costing too much right before college and she wants to go, I would recommend.
Feel free to message me if you have other questions.
I copied this reply from the other thread where you posted a similar query. ![]()
Did she apply to Kinhaven? I believe they are still taking late applications and may still have aid available. They have many, many kids that are between HS and College
Hi there! I am seeking some collective wisdom here ~ my son was accepted to Kinhaven and just got off the waitlist for Green mountain. He is a 14 years old violinist. Any insights on the comparison of the two programs will be greatly appreciated!
At 14 I would probably choose Kinhaven…broader experience targeted to the high school age group. Green Mountain is a much wider age range. But if you have a mature 14yo who gets a lot out of older mentors, Green Mountain might be better.
