Ok, now that you’ve had a chance to see some of the new movies, what would you recommend?
Its hot, and I just want to sit in a cool theatre & eat popcorn.
We saw Trainwreck today. It was stupid but fun, if that makes any sense. I don’t go to the movies often, but my husband wanted someone to go with. Him. I was Ok with the ten buck ticket, but the six plus tiny bag of popcorn kind of surprised me.
I highly recommend Inside Out!
I went to el cheapo Furious 7 for $3 per ticket. My husband wanted to see this movie because he used to do some car racing. I liked it, entertaining. Can’t beat $3. Didn’t eat any popcorn.
2nd “Inside Out”
Thanks for the ideas!
Spy
3rd Inside Out!
I enjoyed Terminator too!
Has anyone seen Holmes?
Inside Out was great!
Saw Amy, documentary about Amy Winehouse.
My primary date for the movies is 10 years old so just a forewarning lol.
We saw the Minion Movie last week. I thought it was hysterical and a great soundtrack. We plan on seeing Pixels next week.
For my birthday at the end of the month I told DH that all I want is to go see the new Vacation movie with him and to go to dinner at The Melting Pot (I’ve never been). We shall see if summer activities and his job allow for that to happen. If not, it will be another kiddie movie and dinner at The Melting Pot with my son (who am I kidding it will be Dave and Busters I am sure).
My sister dragged me to see Max because she loved dogs. I have to say I enjoyed the movie. It was a feel good movie, great for all ages.
Saw Jurassic World in 3d. with one kid at the new dine in your chair theatre. The movie was good, classic jurassic park fun. The theatre experience was nice but not sure I’d do it again. The lounger was very comfy but felt like I was watching the movie alone.
(In other news, ek, saw Umphrey Magee last night. Lettuce opened. Awesome concert!
Oh, dear God. I watched a trailer online, and was bawling after 30 seconds, and was ready to give my life up for rescuing service dogs in the military. Don’t know if I could handle the movie.
My girls were home for the 4th, and wanted to go see Magic Mike XXL. I was exhausted that evening after entertaining all day, so I passed. When they got home, they said they were glad I wasn’t with them - I think they might have been embarrassed. I took it as a challenge, so I went and saw it last night. I almost never go see the kind of movie that appeals to mostly female late teens and young adults, but H was out of town, and I decided to do something he wouldn’t go do with me. Eh, had it’s parts…not much of a story line, but really, it’s not the kind of movie you’d expect much of a story line to. Best part was listening to all the noises coming from those around me watching!
I started a thread about the movie Love and Mercy; it’s still the best movie I’ve seen this summer, but I don’t consider summer movies as Academy Award material (although Love and Mercy might garner some nominations). Have also seen Spy and Inside Out. Inside Out was OK, but I had a woman sitting next to me (we were in assigned seating so I could not move), who laughed out loud almost every 45 seconds. It was very distracting and I think it took away from my enjoyment. Yes, the movie has its funny moments, but not every 45 seconds.
Do kind of want to see Vacation, just for nostalgia. Just from seeing the previews, I think Ricki and the Flash is going to be pretty bad… same with Paper Towns. So not much more to look forward to this summer. Have been seeing some interesting previews for stuff opening later this year, that will probably be gearing up toward Oscar-caliber movies.
Watched Terminator Genisys. Dumb title. Movie not bad but not great. Too many loop holes and unexplained circumstances in the plot.
Another vote for Love and Mercy. Like Spy too. Saw Inside Out today (because its so stinking hot) with D, my longtime Disney/Pixar buddy. We both agreed, it was good, not great. Teriwtt, it sounds like we have similar taste in movies.
I’m hoping for a review of Holmes. For some reason, it’s only playing at a dinky little theater here that is old and somewhat unpleasant. But, I’m both a Sherlock Holmes and Ian McKellen fan.
Saw Love and Mercy today. Really, really good, great acting, powerful story but very sad.
I also recommend Love and Mercy.
